Dishwashered my One...is there hope?

So...I'm feeling like a total idiot right now. My one wasn't clipped into my bra very well and somehow ended up in the silverware tray of my dishwasher. I found it about 10-15 minutes into the cycle by carrying the laptop around my house until it would sync- so I know it still syncs, and it still comes on when I push the button. I put it in a bag of rice as a precaution- should I be worried that it will randomly quit me now? Or how long should I leave it in the rice just to be safe?

Don't feel like an "idiot." We've all done things absent-mindedly because we belong to the human race.

That said, You should leave the device in the rice for at least 24 hours. If it then works, fine. If not, try keeping it in rice for another day. If it works okay, it will probably keep doing so. One suggestion, you will have a better chance of success if the device is in a jar of rice with a screw-top lid to keep air/moisture from entering.

@Tantan Welcome to the Fitbit Community! It's great to have you here! My friend @John917 is totally right, don't think like that, things happen my friend. You are lucky that the device didn't go die and the suggestions that John917 are awesome and I agree with the tips. In addition, I recommend restarting your One in case you notice something unusual on your tracker.

Keep @John917 and posted on the outcome and we'll be around! Smiley Happy

Boo.  You are not the first @Tantan, and you are no idiot.  A couple years ago I was on vacation in the Florida Keys and I wound up snorking with my One (don't ask how).  Oddly, my One did not display anything at all after about an hour of swimming.  So I thought, "blank screen?  Better charge it."  Because we all know that everything works better if you just add enough electricity, right?  Well, turns out that even a week in a bag of rice won't resurrect an electrocuted waterlogged Fitbit One.

You, on the other hand, seem to be a lot brighter than me.  You got the One out of the dishwasher quickly, and you are smart to try and dehumitify it while it is still working.  I think a couple days in the rice and you should be fine.

Cheers!

Thanks for the info, guys! I took it out of the rice thismorning and it seems to still be working just fine. The biggest reason I felt so dumb is because it was the first day I had it after the first one I bought didn't work when I got it, and I had to jump through a bunch of hoops trying to get it replaced. Hopefully this is the last of my Fitbit drama for a while! haha!
