Fit bit not monitoring steps

Usually my Fitbit records steps as I go but now it is recording 0 I reset it by deleting and adding it back and steps appeared but again today no steps and my weekly count is way out X correct number of steps each day but they are not added together properly for the total x

Deleting and adding it back doesn't reset the fitbit so it may be worth trying this procedure:

http://help.fitbit.com/articles/en_US/Help_article/How-do-I-restart-my-tracker/

 

(note that it doesn't always work first time so give it a few tries)
