"New" Fitbit One? This tracker has been out of production for a long time. Where did you buy it? If it has sat on a shelf somewhere with a completely discharged battery it is likely permanently damaged. I would return it.

Thanks, I got it off ebay. New in sealed packet. I work as a nurse and we have a "bare below the elbow" policy, I thought it would be a good option for me...bummer

@Angjoh Welcome to the Fitbit family! Thanks for taking the time to start this thread regarding the situation you are experiencing with your Fitbit One not turning on when unplugged from charging cable. It's great that you got a new Fitbit One.
The "Fitbit 6.60" that you are getting is the current firmware version it has. It is out of date as the latest version is 6.64. Your tracker is trying to update itself to the latest version it seems.
In this case, I'd recommend trying the steps shown on this helpful article to try to sort this out. Then, try the update. This should certainly help you out with this.
@SunsetRunner Thanks for sharing your help and experience on this thread!

I am having the same issue as @Angjoh. Is there a reason that my "new" in the original packaging Fitbit One can sync with Fitbit Connect via my PC but is unable to find my One in order to check for updates? I am trying to update from 6.60 to 6.64. I am leaving the One plugged into the USB in order to help distinguish between possible battery issues vs. update issues.

@TSone Welcome to the Fitbit family! Thanks for taking the time to research the Fitbit forums to report the situation you are experiencing with your One not updating to its latest version through your PC. Thanks for keeping your One plugged in to check on the battery.
I went ahead and contacted you via PM. Please keep an eye on your Community inbox!

@OhGr8One your battery died. You can get an aftermarket one on eBay for ~$12 and install it yourself; see other thread in this forum by @PureEvil with step by step instructions. If uncomfortable replacing the battery, the Inspire is a similar-sized tracker. You can also install MobileSync www.fitbit.com/devices to track until you get your One fixed or purchase an alternate tracker.

@Payalst as shared above throughout this thread, unfortunately, your tracker's battery is dead. It can be replaced but it's not supported by Fitbit if you choose to do this. Personally, I've replaced batteries in dozens of Ones and love bringing these beautiful little trackers back to life. I'm happy to lend guidance if you're interested in repairing it, or sending you a prepaid label if you're not going to and would like to avoid putting into a landfill. Many people who loved the One are now using the Inspire, which can also be worn on a clip. It lacks stair counting but offers other new features too!

Williger, I do not understand why you are telling everyone their tracker has a dead battery. I feel like everyone on here knows how to charge their Fitbit. I have this same problem. Once it updated all it shows is the updated version number and then a full battery icon. Then it goes dark. If you unplug it, it doesn't come back on. It seems a lot of people are having the same issue.

@shrenlee297 I call it as I see it. The more information people provide, the better I or others here can assist. I've worked on more Fitbit Ones than anyone I've heard of and do my best to help others here who also love this unique yet out-of-maintenance tracker that I'm intimately familiar with. Simply, If your One is showing as a full battery only when on the charging cable, the battery is dead. This identical behavior exhibits in other Fitbit models. Sometimes a dead battery One won't even light up on the charger.
Time for an upgrade? 🤔 Fitbit may give you a nice discount if you call in.

Gotcha. Although in my case(other discussion) the battery was fine prior to the upgrade. And yes, they do offer a nice discount but they do not have a clip on Fitbit with altimeter. It's unfortunate. The One is unique and clearly loved by many. Thank you for your help.

@shrenlee297 you're welcome! I love the One as well. It's why I'm here trying to support others the best I can and always happy to walk you or others here through the steps of installing a replacement battery if comfortable working on small electronics. It's quite common as you've seen in these forums that people's batteries died around the time of the firmware update, there's no denying this, however, it's also the fact that this update came out around the same time that these batteries were already approaching their end of life. being rated only for 2-3 years maximum and so many of us still enjoying some of these units with original batteries is amazing. agreed, the inspire isn't the same. I like its features and admire it for being a neat Fitbit in its own right but for me too, it's not a replacement for the one, nor is the zip, its closest relative. there are possibly patent issues or other unexplained reasons that Fitbit no longer includes this well-desired product in its line-up and fortunately, good used ones with batteries still exist. you can buy replacement batteries or even refurbished Fitbit ones (or brand new ones in some cases) on amazon and eBay, though none of them at this point are supported by Fitbit. good luck in whatever choice you make and hope you continue improving health ongoing through tracking, cheers!
