Fitbit One dead?

I've had a Fitbit One for several years. In recent months, it hadn't been holding a charge longer than 3-4 days, and have had to reset it a few times. Yesterday, even though it had recently been fully charged, it seems to have died. I felt it quickly pulsate/buzz, took it out of my pocket to discover it blank. Left it plugged in to charge all night. Tried the restart several times. Nothing. Is it completely dead and have to be replaced?

I would say yes it needs to be replaced. They dont last forever. Don't know how long you have had it as all you said was several years.

My first lasted 4 years my second one is going on 3 1/2 and acting funny

Sadly, that's what I figured. I've had it for 5 years or more. Can't remember! Long time. Actually, my husband got me an Inspire HR for Christmas, which is fine except don't particularly like it on my wrist. Like the heart rate feature though. The big downside is the lack of altimeter. That's why I've been using both. I climb a lot of hills while walking and hiking and like that feature. Thanks for your input.

@jenhop60 as Wendy mentioned, the batteries on these generally last only a few years. As you already have a backup tracker to use, perhaps consider attempting to repair your noncharging one. @Pureevil created a nice post with step-by-step instructions you can follow to fix yours if you or your husband are comfortable with a soldering iron.

Thank you for your response. A crazy thing just happened. The Fitbit One has been sitting here on my desk, and it "woke up" without my touching it. I heard it vibrate, saw it light up, and the timer began running. Unbelievable. We shall see how long it lasts....

@jenhop60 how interestingly weird and wonderful. I hope it continues working for you. Perhaps consider charging it now while it's operational and see how long you get. Cheers!

Congrats!!  If it happens again, there are directions for restarting it.  I found that helped mine limp along a little longer (mine lasted 6 years before I gave up on the altimiter feature and got a non-HR Inspire and the clip).  Basically, when you plug it in and it doesn't turn on, hold down the button for 10 seconds (you can let go if it turns on before that - as long as mine was actually charged, it turned on in 7-8 seconds).  Good luck!!
