Fitbit calculating steps incorrectly

My Fitbit was on my nightstand and is showing that I've walked more than 48,000 steps and been active more than 300 minutes. What could be wrong and how do I fix this? I actually took 8 steps before taking it off and going to bed at around midnight.

Hello @GFobbs, welcome aboard to our Community. I've have experienced something similar a while ago and one of the best recommendations I've seen in our community is from @PureEvil. Please take a moment to take a look at his post as I believe this is what is happening.

Let me know how it goes, catch ya later.

Hello @RobertoME thank you for referring me to this post. I do have a fan on my nightstand. I put the Fitbit in a different location the last two nights and didn't have those extra steps when I woke up.

Hi @GFobbs, thank you for share with me that you are not having extra steps anymore. In fact, when it happened to me it was because the fan of my laptop that caused a high amount of steps.

Also, note that I moved your reply to your original thread to keep the continuity of this conversation so other users that might experiencing the same problem find more easy a solution as to maintain the order in our community.

See you around and I wish you the best.
