I want to track my bike rides with the same function that maps running

I would like to use the tracking function on the fitbit app for tracking my biking route. Only walking, running and hiking are listed as options? I have tried biking and just let the app "think" I am running and it tracks my ride and tells me miles but then the calories reflect running..... any fix for this?

Not exactly what you're looking for but I use Map My Fitness app for biking.  I couldn't find any way to get accurate data from my fitbit regarding biking.  I really like Map My Fitness a lot.  I use it for biking, kayaking, lawn mowing, and sometimes walking when I want to measure a route.

If my comments help you please help me. Simply click the VOTES box on this post. Thanks 🙂

@Ohio-Bob Thanks for sharing that great tip!

@Xanda I also wanted to let you know that if you're doing an activity that isn't step-based, the manually logged feature is a great tool to use! I encourage you to take a look at our help article for more information on how to use it.

Hope this helps! Let me know if you have any questions. Smiley Happy

Hi there. Thanks for your response. I know how to enter things manually but I don’t always know my mileage. I just don’t get why fit bit can track a hike or a run and map it but not a bike ride. I have actually used the “run” tracking function to map my bike ride and then I delete it and enter the mileage and the time. This just seems silly. I mostly wanted to be sure that there really is no way to track/map a bike ride accurately. It sounds like that is the case. Thank you.

Hello @Xanda, Indeed its not the same, but manually logging this type of activities is one of the best recommendation. Just as @LenaFit mentioned before, this activity are not step-base activities.

Note, that for hike or run these are activities based on your steps. All your motion pattern combined with your steps, make possible to track activities like the one from MobileRun. Also using the GPS along, it will be your phone sensors that calculates distance, elevation, and pace for your walk, run, or hike including a map course.

With bike is different, since there is no steps that can determine your movement. The only tracker that can track bike at the moment is the Fitbit Surge. Although I've seen in our feature request board a similar request that apply to your scenario. This idea has growth in popularity and perhaps you are interest in share your vote and add your comment to support the implementation of this feature in a future. If you are interested you can visit the following link: Track Cycling on Mobile App with GPS.

See you around and I wish you the best.
