I walk anywhere from 2-6 hours a day on my elliptical machine. I've put a table over my elliptical so I can work (light typing) and use my elliptical at the same time.
I currently have the FitBit Charge HR, and it does a terrible job of counting my elliptical activity as "steps". Wearing it on my wrist doesn't work since I'm typing and not swinging my wrists while on my elliptical. Putting it in my pocket counts some steps, but I think it still grossly undercounts my steps. I've eve tried crazy things like wearing it around my ankle. Nothing works.
I know you can turn on an elliptical setting but I don't want to do that because:
So ideally I'm looking for a fitbit model that will automatically count elliptical machine workouts as regular steps automatically without prompting.
So is the FitBit One a better choice for my needs? I assume since this model was designed to be worn on the body (instead of your arms), it would have more sensitive step counting sensors, and has a better chance of counting elliptical workouts as steps. Any help/advice would be great. Thanks!

@elliptical_nut Welcome to the Fitbit Community! The best thing you can do with your Fitbit One will be to manually log the elliptical activity. It will give you accurate information. I understand you don't want to do that, so the best advise I can give you is to get a Fitbit Surge. Fitbit Surge includes an "exercise" feature within the tracker itself. Right there, you can select elliptical specifically and start tracking it while using the elliptical machine.
Hope this helps. See you around!
