Seen several other posts on this subject, going back to the start of the year - but apparently no resolution? Is there any way I can see genuine average daily steps by month for a full 12 month period, including an accurate measure of the current month?

Hello @RachelS1a, good to see you around. If you look on your web-based Dashboard, you can have access to a whole year information but is not an average, in fact is the total count of steps for a year.
If we go to the app, here you can find the daily average per year, per 3 months and 1 months by accessing the graph on your step tile. However this measure is for a daily average of 28 days period but is the most close of the information you are looking for.
As you can see on the screenshot this is how you can see your daily average per year, if you tap on the screen and move to the sides, you can change the range of time it will cover per year.
Although this is not a solution, I invite you to share your feedback on our Feature Suggestion board. I tried to find a similar idea to this, but If you find that a similar suggestion has already been made by another member of the community, you can vote for their idea and add your comments. Our product team looks forward to reading and incorporating your suggestions into future versions of Fitbit trackers and apps.
See you around and let me know if you have additional questions.

Hi there @RachelS1a, sure let me guide you though this screen.
On the Fitbit app you will see your main Dashboard. Here, tap on the Step tile / Step circle stat (depending on the version of the app you have) This will take you to the step history and your daily graph. Tap on top of your graph and the screen of my previous screenshot will appear.
I prefer the Android App but something that I forget to add before on the iOS app it shows the average per month for a year, which in my opinion is better.
Hope this provides more help, Let me know if I can do something else for you.
