One Tracking Extra Steps and Floors

My Fitbit One started acting up as I drove home Monday. I was getting steps in the car as well as over a hundred flights on Monday and yesterday. It recorded nearly 200 flights of stairs, one 15 minute period it registered 40. I started leaving both fitbits in the car during breaks so real walking wouldn't add to it. I got some steps and flights on my drive there 2 weeks ago but nothing like this.

The other fitbit is an Alta I got when the battery on the One was acting up this winter. The issue stopped and I like the One for recording stairs and my sleep or clipping on when I don't have pockets. I never wear the Fitbit on my wrist.

Now I just slept in this morning and discovered I have over 11,000 steps! How can I delete the mistakes?

@EHMcA I hope you're doing well! Thanks for reporting the situation you are experiencing with your One counting extra steps and floors.

First thing, I'd recommend performing a restart on your One. That should help to prevent this later.

Also, it is normal that your tracker may count extra steps or floors when driving on bumpy roads. No worries, there is a way to delete them. Please check this article to learn how.

Additionally, check this article about why your Fitbit device may count extra floors or steps.

Hope this helps. Keep me posted! Smiley Happy

I did figure out how to put in driving as an activity. When driving doesn't actually show up as an activity choice unless you search for it, that does not make it the least bit intuitive that you could do that.  It's also sort of ridiculous since now I have an "activity" showing for all seven days last week, but in reality one day it was just because I entered in driving a few times to fix the stairs issue.

Unfortunately I'm still waiting for tech support (I called at some point after posting this) because my fitbit also didn't reset correctly at midnight last Tuesday night. That, at least, they were able to determine when I talked to them. Unfortunately a week later they still haven't managed to fix it that.

The additional problem I had from that was the 190 floors I floors from last Tuesday were added onto Wednesday to give me 200 flights for the day. Even after I added driving to Tuesday to drop it below 100 flights it still shows 200 floors for Wednesday. I have four stair badges I didn't earn still showing up.

It also did something similar with my steps.  I noticed I had 11,518 steps shortly after I got up in the morning. I walked a few thousand step and a short time later it was back to 11,518.  That happened again later, but then finally it started keeping the new steps. I really have no idea how much I actually walked but at least that didn't reward me badges I didn't earn so I really don't care as much at this point.
