I have two Fitbit Ones. I have been using one of them for the past 7 years and it has reached the point where the button no longer functions the way it should (although it's still counting steps without issue). I would like to remove the damaged One from my account without losing all my history, and substitute the other One onto my account.
I use a laptop, I am not technically savvy, and I'm worried I won't be able to do this without messing it up. Most of the instructions I've found are for different trackers, or using a phone app.
Could someone please point me in the right direction?
Thanks in advance for any help.

Charge the new One.
Sync from the old one if haven't recently; otherwise lose data since last sync.
In the Windows 10 app, logged in the fitbit account.email you have been using, click the icon near top right that looks like a driver's license. Then click on 'Set up a Device'; it will ask which device you are adding; when you select the One, it will say something like 'You already have a One connected. Do you want to replace it?' Say yes; then just answer the rest of the prompts.
It might be possible from the fitbit.com dashboard but I could not find that option.

Do not create new fitbit account with different email. As long as you stay in same account, your data will not be lost.
IF you were using phone app, it's just 'add a new device', you specify which fitbit model and it asks if you want to replace the one you are using - yes.
I'm not sure on laptop. It would at least depend on if you are using fitbit.com dashboard or Windows 10 app.

I am more comfortable using fitbit.com, but I do have the Windows 10 app on my computer for times when the One is being finicky about syncing.
I believe I created an account with a different e-mail address on the secondary one when I first got it (to test it out). I am not even sure if I know what e-mail I used or the login details. Does that make a difference? It hasn't been used in a long time, although I kept it charged on a regular basis.
Once I remove the original one, do I plug the new one into the charger in order to add it? I am really at a loss here. My son set it up for me originally.
Sorry to keep asking questions.

Thank you JohnnyRow! I was able to set up the new One through the Windows 10 app. Your advice worked perfectly.
I just have one more question, if you can help me. My old One was set up as a Lefty, and I can't seem to find where to do that on the new One. When I press the button the display is upside down.

Not sure since I've never used a One (many people would be jealous of you, having a spare One set aside) but here's what you could try. Back to the Windows 10 app and the license plate icon, then click on 'One' and see if there is an option about wrist placement, though it's not worn on wrist.
On newer models, I haven't come across one that allows the display to be inverted like that.
If not there in Windows 10 app, try this. From fitbit.com dashboard, click gear icon near top right, then 'Settings' and see if it has the 'handedness' setting there.
Just found this in the User Manual .
Lefty mode
Your tracker can be displayed in Lefty mode, which orients the display to make it
easier for left-handed individuals to read their trackers when holding them with their
dominant hand. The One comes oriented for right-handed users by default. To
change your tracker to lefty mode, go to your Device Settings and select the
Left-handed button.

I found the spot to change to left-handedness. It was under Device Settings. It wasn't there earlier, but I re-started my computer and VOILA!!
Now I'm all set. Yay!
