If you still have access to your old laptop, make sure you get the Fitbit dongle off the USB port before you get rid of it just in case you want to use it to sync. Otherwise, follow the instructions posted by @Odyssey13.

Install the fitbit app on your ipad or iphone and follow the instructions. You can sync with your ipad or iphone with the fitbit app. Make sure you turn on bluetooth.
