I have set my step distance manually to 31.8 inches. My dashboard shows 7423 steps. So 7423*31.8/36/1760 = 3.72 miles. So why does my dashboard show 3.42 miles. To ensure that it is nothing to do with walking/running steps I have set my running stride length to 31.8 inches also. Does Fitbit need to go back to school and take some more Maths lessons? Or is it something to do with the number of floors and an assumed shorter stride on them?

I think the issue is resolved, today it is correct, obviously yesterday it calculated the first part of my day with the original step length and only used the 31.8 inches once I had changed it.

Hi @Walker1612. I just checked the math for a 1h 15 min walk I took earlier and it's working out fine. My data entry screen for stride lengths is in feet and inches - is it not the same at your end? Are you sure that the metrics you're quoting are coming straight from your Fitbit One as opposed to your phone/GPS tracking functionality? If so, the steps count logged to your dashboard would relfect the actual number of steps recorded by your One; while the distance shown would reflect your GPS track.

Thanks for the reply TW.
I am using the Windows 10 App, when I go to Account->Advanced Settings->Stride Length the stride lengths are in inches (31.8). I set the stride lengths in the Windows App. When I go to my account online stride lengths are shown in feet and inches and are correct 2' 7.8". The App has clearly updated the data in my account. To make sure I also pressed the Save button online.
My Fitbit One also shows 8002 steps and 3.7 miles.
When I look at the dashboard it currently shows 8002 steps and 3.7 miles, both online and via the Windows App. That's a stride length of 29.3". The steps, distance and stride length are all solely from my dashboard.

Hi @Walker1612. Yes. Stride length changes are not retroactive but prospective only. Cheers!
