I toggle a bit between wrist and clip with my One and notice a huge difference in step count (way less of them, and probably more accurate, when clipped on). Is there any way to set the (very basic) wrist placement settings so that it mirrors clipped-on results even just a tiny bit better? The only 'handedness' settings with the One are 'left and right', so are they asking you which is your dominant hand, or on which hand you will be wearing the device?? I'm guessing it doesn't really matter since wrist-wearing will skew results regardless, but I wasn't really sure. Thanks!

Hi @Blayzzz,
No, unfortunately, there's not a setting on the One to tell it that you're wearing it on your wrist, like the Inspire's setting to tell it you're moving it from your wrist to a clip. The fact is this older tracker wasn't designed to be worn on the wrist, so steps will be consistently inaccurate, however, I know many who enjoy logging "steps" this way, as well as some who attach their trackers to shoes or wear around their ankle. It captures activity, but it's inaccurate as far as total step count as the device's programming is based on being worn as a clip. I never understood the setting for handedness on the One either, whether right or left-handed, it's either going to be clipped to my belt or put in that pocket in jeans that I think was made specifically for the Fitbit One 😉

Thank you, Williger. No, I didn't think that there much purpose or sophistication behind the handedness feature on the One. Still, I was hoping that there was maybe some mysterious tweak I wasn't aware of somehow. Oh well. Looks like it's a clip-on for now.... or slipped into that teensy little pocket-watch pocket (that is, when I burn off this covid-40 and can get back into my jeans...)

YW, @Blayzzz I personally switch between different Fitbits depending on the occasion, so I've got wrist models like Ionic, Surge, Versa, Charges, etc., and the One and Zip for pocketability. You're still capturing activity and that should help keep you motivated! Good luck with losing the extra 40! If you need any size 34 jeans, I'm about to graduate from mine down to 32", presently walking around at 169lbs, after starting Fitbitting at 256lbs. I didn't check my weight for a month as had been indulging since the new year and feared my Aria scale wouldn't recognize me, and I hadn't gained a pound, LOL!

holy fitbit fetish...! it never occurred to me to get more than one at a time - let alone 5 or 6. how do you incorporate all of those devices into one account? i did 'downgrade' from a Blaze to the One because I dug the simplicity and loved the clip factor. now, though, i do miss some of the 'fancier' options - one being a bright backlight (tiresome having to dive into subterranean shadows to see the One during the day) , and it being brought to life by a flick of the wrist. i love my little One, but eventually may have to upgrade to something that offers both clip and wrist options - i've heard the Inspire might be good for that? thx again.

LOL, @Blayzzz I do love my Fitbits 🙂 ❤️
Fitbit added the ability to use multiple trackers in our accounts with one caveat (well, besides the fact that you can only wear one at once, hehe) is you can only have one "app" watch; Inspire, Charge3+, Versas, Ionics. You very much can have your One and Blaze on the same account. Please make sure to sync between switching if you've done a lot of activity or you'll risk losing some steps! The inspire is a cool little tracker, it's got good features including clip options, though only offered on the non-HR model unless things have changed. This means, on the Inspire you set it to clip mode so your waist steps are accurate, and the HR doesn't have a setting for the mode but would fit in the same case. Fire up your blaze, for now, it works great with the One and it will work fine with adding the Inspire too! Remember, only one app watch, so check out the newer Versas and other models too before finalizing so you're super happy with your purchase. Time to charge my Ionic and find another to wear. To go to Versa from Ionic, I have to remove one to add another cuz they're app-based. OMG, I'm over 20,000 steps! 💪😎

@Blayzzz if you would like a device that you can choose between wearing on your wrist or on a clip, then I would thoroughly recommend the Inspire (or Inspire 2) whenever you are ready to upgrade. I would definitely go for the Inspire 2. You can wear it omewhere on your core (with or without the dedicated Fitbit clip) or you can wear it on your wrist, and there is a toggle to choose whether you are wearing it as a pocket (etc) device or as a wrist device, in order to give you the most accurate measurements.
The One is really not designed to be worn on the wrist at all, except for sleeping, so it is likely to overcount steps if you do wear it that way on the day time. The more recent devices, like the Inspire series, have two different algorithms that you can switch between. The wrist setting does take into account nd movements and tries to eliminate some false hand "steps" - though if you are a pianist, for example, or a vigourous knitter, some false hand "steps" are inevitable...
Unless you find your Fitbit is consistently undercounting steps I would always suggest wearing it on your non dominant hand, but in the settings area choose dominant. That will minimise hand "steps"
I hope this makes sense!
Sense, Charge 5, Inspire 2; iOS and Android

Thanks, Julia. Yes, overcounting while on the wrist appears to be a giant understatement. Was so excited to think that I could get all those steps in by the end of the day, but when I realized I was clocking a 1000 or so washing dishes, and driving a stick-shift, well....not very legitimate 🙂
It looks like the Inspire would be a good fit. I really appreciate the feedback. Thanks again.

Yikes, that sounds way too stressy & complicated for my tired old-fart of a brain. I guess I'm more old-school than I realise, so one fitbit at a time is good for me 😁 My Blaze died a couple of years ago, so that's when I bought the One. But I do miss some of the 'perks' that the newer models have, so it looks like the Inspire might be a good match. Gotta have a few bells n whistles in life :))
Thank you again, Williger and congrats on the weight loss! One of these days I hope to put these stupid yoga pants behind me and step into some jeans and heels once again!!

Hi @Blayzzz you could biy any other Fitbit tracker and add it to your account with the Fitbit One.
Then simply take off the tracker you and put on the tracker you want. Switching is that easy.
