Active minutes not recording.

I have just synced my Fitbit and the active minutes is staying at 0. This is in spite of already recording over 12,000 steps so far today and an exercise class this morning. How can I sort this please?

Can you tell me if your heart rate was recording during the same
timeframe? If so what range was it in?

Just curious because, I believe, Fitbit calculates active minutes through a
metric called metabolic equivalent of tasks (METs). METs measure the
intensity of a particular physical exercise by comparing against a base
rate. (e.g. running vs. sitting still). Generally METs are calculated
using your heart rate. And the exercise interval has to exceed 10 mins. 9
mins = no active mins, 10 mins = 10 mins of active.

Thank you for the suggestion - it looks like the Fitbit stopped picking up my heart rate completely yesterday and also didn’t record my sleep last night. Thoughts on how to fix that?

Hmmm. Mine started recording more reliably since I started wearing it a
little higher up on my wrist (which is what the manual suggests ... but
whoever reads the manual? 😨) and a little tighter.

I used to leave the strap a bit loose.

*Placement for all-day wear vs exercise*

*When you're not exercising, wear Charge 3 a finger's width above your
wrist bone. For optimized heart-rate tracking while exercising:*
*Try wearing Charge 3 higher on your wrist during exercise for an improved
fit and more accurate heart-rate reading. Many exercises, such as bike
riding or weight lifting, cause you to bend your wrist frequently, which
can interfere with the heart-rate signal if the tracker is lower on your
wrist.*

I’m on hold with Fitbit now because I realized the heart rate sensor won’t even turn on. No green lights! Tried all the online trouble shooting. ::sigh:: Thank you for the advice!

I did read the manual, I did read the blogs, I did read the online information, I’ve tried everything, the Fitbit charge three is not a reliable product.

I have an Alta. Yesterday I woke up and didn't even look at my Alta until I was half-way through my morning walk when I realized the Alta was totally dark and couldn't be awakened. When I got home from my walk, I put it on the charger and did a reset. It then gave me credit for about half of my walk. This morning on my walk, it tracked my steps and seems mostly accurate. However today the active minutes weren't tracking. About half way through my walk the Active Minutes started tracking and it appears I got full credit. I'll admit, yesterday when i was having this problem, I started looking at Apple Watches. But when I saw the price point, i decided to pay my car off early instead.

I took off my FitBit and placed it on my iPhone as I updated it and it miraculously updated the minutes. No clue why this would work...but it did. Good luck!

I am having this problem with my Alta HR as well. Any fix found?

No, had to buy a new Fitbit. The response from Fitbit was that I wasn’t being active enough to record minutes. Certainly not the case after just stopping when activity didn’t change. New Fitbit is working properly. I just wonder if it is something Fitbit does to make you buy a new one.

I used to put my Alta HR on my ankle when on the elliptical or shopping. A little harder to put it on my ankle with the Versa 2.

I am having same issue.  Yes it is picking up my heart rate.  It seems to only happen when I bike.  I start the exercise on my Versa lite (I do not rely on auto recognize) and stop when I am done.  Everything syncs okay but it reads zero active minutes for the exercise session. It will record time, distance, the minutes but it doesn't credit them toward active minute (see pic below at bottom)IMG_0121.PNG

Make sure your heart rate is turned on so it can use your heart rate to establish your active minutes.

Mine won’t either

Hi,

I did not get any active minutes all day yesterday because I was doing college classes and did not get a chance to walk around the house for ten minutes. What should I do to resolve that? I know inserting track minutes will not work.

Very late coming to this. But I have found the issue is the Fitbit being removed from or not paired to your phone. I reconnected my Bluetooth to the Fitbit, and it synced all my old data, back several weeks

My Charge HR has heart rate turned off(gives me wrist pain) and still records active minutes fine two years in a row, non stop. New Versa, resets active minutes and goes to zero on sync, sometimes they reset to zero while I am walking without phone. Active minutes should record without heart monitor enabled.
