Add an option to set alarms from the Fitbit app-Charge 3

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I did an upgrade on my Charge 3 last week, and now I have lost the silent alarm feature in the Fitbit app. I have contacted tech support, who have informed me that since the feature is now available in the Charge 3, it has been removed from the app.

This is a huge mistake & a backwards step by fitbit. This was a useful & easy to use feature, but now I have to get out my magnifying glass to set the alarms on the tiny charge 3 screen.

Please re-instate the feature, or allow me to uninstall the upgrade (they have told me I can't do that).

Welcome to the Fitbit Community @gazzamundo.

I'm sorry to hear that you are having difficulties to set your silent alarms from your Fitbit Charge 3. Thank you for the information provided.

Currently, there are no plans to add an option to set silent alarms from the Fitbit app. However, if there is any change it should be communicated here. Like you mentioned, there is no option to uninstall the upgrade.

For instructions to set a silent alarm from your Charge 3, please visit this article.

I’ve just upgraded to the latest version of the charge 3 software and it turns out “Note that you can no longer set alarms in the Fitbit app”. Are you kidding?! I’ve got 4 different alarms and the watch is too small and fiddly for me to be messing about trying to set it up on the watch itself. Why on earth have you taken this functionality off the app? It took 30 minutes to load the new update and now I just want to throw my watch in the bin.

Best Answer

In that case, I suggest you think again. The alarm function needs to be in the app, the watch is far too small to use. Your competitors are laughing at you and your customers will buy their devices elsewhere.

This reply does answer my question however it would have saved me a load of searching had the update not just said "you need to set your silent alarms again".

How difficult would it be to add "you will need to do this on your device".

Give us the option to reinstall the app please.

I was puzzled that I couldn't set the alarm from the Fitbit, so to me it seems a logical feature to add. But I do find it a very strange decision to remove it from the app rather than just add the option to the device.

I just updated my charge 3. If only I had known I would no longer be able to set alarms via the app. Worst decision ever by Fitbit. I don’t think anyone will be happy with this ridiculous decision. Why change things that work?!?!?!

I strongly agree with this post -

I have to strongly agree with the customers on this thread - for me, the silent alarm of the Fitbit is one of the primary functions that I depend on. And to remove the app option to quickly add, delete, or modify this feature is a very poor design decision.

What is it with Fitbits and silent alarms? Earlier this year I had to return 2 previous devices because that feature stopped working, and now it's a 5+ step process to set each alarm. Ridiculous.

The form factor simply doesn't support this without driving customers crazy.

Hello everybody. Thank you for your feedback about the silent alarm feature.

Please be aware that eventhough there is no longer an option to set silent alarms from the Fitbit app, you can still do it from the website at fitbit.com > Settings > Devices > Charge 3 > Silent alarm.

Please make sure you sync your Trackers after making any change to your Fitbit accounts.

Please let us know if you have any question.

Having the feature on the website is not the answer to this. Who uses websites on their mobile devices?

It needs to go back into the app, it should never have been removed in the first place.

Best Answer

Ive got the exact problem, so yes please Fitbit, change it back.

Best Answer

The best option is to bring the silent alarm back to the app. Then make it an option on the band. The more streamline the options on the band the better.

Best Answer

I guess on the web is better than nothing, but on the app is better. On the band is plainly dumb!

Best Answer

I was going to upgrade my charge 3 at some point however this being removed from the app is making me think twice.

It's a bit disappointing when the basics like alarms are such a pain to get working correctly.

It's clear that these devices are now bloated with features that people don't really need - which jeopardizes the original value proposition of the device.

I for one don't need all the elite athlete exercise tracking stuff, but take away a dependable silent alarm, and I get pretty steamed..

"It's clear that these devices are now bloated with features that people don't really need - which jeopardizes the original value proposition of the device." Couldn't agree more.

Who ever thought a customer would not be angry when Alarms are rendered unusable, and nonsense like Agenda and Weather are added. I have a phone for those things, which is better for things that are simply not needed on your wrist. Alarms are needed on the wrist and now are nearly impossible to use.

Supposedly there is a way to set the Alarms from the online (web-based) dashboard, but I can't find it. Has anyone figured out that puzzle?

In web interface > click view profile, top right

Click picture of watch (device), again top right

Click view device settings (Charge 3), left

Then Silent Alarms, can't miss it.

You can also access all the other settings here too.

I set an alarm via the website and it didn’t work. Says to make sure you sync the Fitbit, which I did. Alarm didn’t go off, so something wasn’t right. May have still been something I did/didn’t do. So not as simple to do as it was before.

Sync in app on phone then refresh website and the "sync" warning goes.
Then check your fitbit to confirm alarm is set. Worked for me.
