Alert sensations while "not" wearing Charge 2

I'm getting alert buzzing/sensations in/on my wrist when I am "not" wearing my Fitbit Charge 2.  Has my body learned to imitate or predict this and is triggering a learned response?  Is anyone having similar responses/sensations when not wearing your Fitbit?

Hi, @Blitz1, well, that is definitely a new one on me!  I can't comment because I am si addicted to Fitbit that I am always wearing one...  But I have to admit that now and again I feel a "phantom" buzzing when there is no reason for my Fitbit to buzz, and when I look at it, it looks as innocent as pie...  "Did I say anything?" it seems to be asking me...

So yes, maybe your wrist (or rather your brain) has learned to send you Fitbit messages!

It is called phantom alerts

Yup, another one here. Been getting random buzzes the last 2 days. Assumed Charge HR was faulty... took it off to charge, wrist still buzzing!!! Very odd indeed

Same here. I take my fitbit off after I hit 10k steps. Occasionally feel the tingly vibration associated with an alert even though I'm not wearing the fitbit.

I have 3 words. Phantom Vibration syndrome

Almost but not quite. It continued on my left wrist even after moving it to my right. If it were psychological it would follow the fitbit... It's something to do with the nerve pathways being 'conditioned' to the vibrations.

This also is a very common occurrence with cell phone users. No it does not have anything to do with rays Fitbit or phone puts out. Please relax .

If it makes you feel better, it stopped happening to me after a few days and hasn't been back since. I won't be surprised if it comes back at some point. I'm still using the same fitbit on the same wrist and still charge it in the same outlet. I have not changed the device I sync it with either.

I am feeling that very thing today! It is a strange sensation many times each hour. I’m going to give my Fitbit a rest for a while.

i been wearing a fit bit for 3 months on and off not worn it for weeks now and have been getting vibrations in the exact place i wore it on almost a daily basis very odd i can only imagine this must be some sort of nerve damage??

Best Answer

Probably just simply,  if the is anything as simple,  phantom notifications.

I'll let you do your own research,  but this had become very common with Carl phones and other devices that vibrate.

This is happening to me and it’s disturbing! I really hope that blasting a laser light directly on your arm along with constant vibration isn’t doing a different type of nerve damage. This makes it different from other devices! It needs to be researched separately because it’s not the same!

Best Answer

I would agree except the only 'notification' i receive is for 10k steps. That means I only get the one each day so phantom notifications seem very unlikely

@Netty1977 why are you shinning a laser light into your arm, I don't think that would be good for the skin.

The LED on your tracker is almost completely composed of visible light. There is an extremely small amount of ultra violet and even so an LED is the only type of light for those that break out with standard household lightbulbs.

Best Answer

@Netty1977 , the light on your Fitbit is not a laser!  It is a small LED of the same sort yu may have in lightbulbs all over your house.
