Hello all,
My old charge 4 would automatically detect my outdoor biking without fail. I got a replacement at the new year after breaking the old one.... and its hit and miss at the best of times. I've lowered the auto recognition to 10 minutes.
example: I just biked a 40+ min round trip journey. It's autorecognized 14 minutes on the way home.
Why is my new Charge 4 less reliable than my old Charge 4? Did I get a dud?

@LHavens , Nice to see you here. Thank you for your message.
There can be various reasons why your activities were not recorded or recognized.
For example, the activity is not fully recognized by your movement patterns.
You paused for more than 30 seconds during the first few minutes, so the tracker might "think" the exercise was over.
I recommend restarting your tracker and setting the start times for the activities differently. For example, set it to 10 minutes for a walk, 15 for a run, 20 for an outdoor bike ride, etc., and/or ignoring the activities you don't use.
See you around.

Hi, thanks for the reply.
I have restarted it and the 'maybe you're not moving right' rational doesn't work when it's the exact same bike/person... and it -should- be the same tracker. I didn't suddenly start biking differently.

@LHavens , Thank you for your reply and effort.
Please do not misunderstand me, Im' not saying that you are not moving right, just as you mentioned that this Charge 4 is a replacement. It needs a bit to recognize and "learn" your movement patterns so that it can identify your activities.
Thant's why I recommended you to put different starting times to each activity so that it is easier for the tracker to "learn" and recognize your movement pattern.
How did it go after the restart?
See you around.

@JuanFitbit Are you saying the Charge 4 has to learn the motions for various exercises, as if the Fitbit is using AI to recognize activities? This sounds like very advanced technology to stuff into a little tracker.

@charleskn , Thank you for your message. The Charge 4 already has saved some movement pattern, but as individuals, everybody has something different on it's movement patterns, so that every new setup device has to identify them so that it recognize them and not identify another activity.
See you around.
