Fitbit updated the firmware last night and now my battery of fitbit dies within minutes of charging. Its shows 100% charged and then drains put to 0 in five minutes of wearing it.

My Fitbit Charge 2 has been affected after this update as well. My battery does not die as fast as some of the others are reporting but it is certainly faster than it used to be a range of 1 day rather than 4. Secondly the green lights stay on constantly rather than the tell tale flickering.
In addition, it has stopped tracking heart rate and sleep cycles as well as some notifications. I contacted Fitbit and was offered their oh so amazing 25% of a new product. I’m curious why they think I would want to buy another product from them to inevitably wait until a firmware destroys that unit too. At least that’s how it feels to me.
I have always kept my device in impeccable condition, cleaning it daily. I also understand that eventually electronics fail but it seems awfully suspicious that it happened directly after a firmware update. Not only the timing but the fact that countless others as well, so much so that we even have a news story about it.
now after all this venting I want to state that I’m not looking for a free device. I simply want them to admit they made a mistake and put out an update to fix it.
Frankly, this situation reeks of the same bad business practices as internet companies throttling your internet speeds. It’s shameful honestly.

I've just gotten the update on my device this weekend and it will not remain charged. It charges to 100% but dies within an hour.

I've sent emails, at first they couldn't help me as warranty out of date, but offered me 25% off another fitbit.
I said my fitbit would be fine if it wasnt for their update, so regardless of being out of warranty, it's an issue they need to sort out, well long story short and mentioning not fit for purpose I am bow getting a new charge 2 sent out to me.
Just keep on, we shouldn't be penalised for their update issue. Your fitbit is no longer fit for purpose, you've bot cause it to stop working x

Edit: They are now sending me a new one as well which I appreciate but all I asked for was a firmware update to fix the issue. I’m just hoping that same firmware doesn’t fry the new one as well but time will tell.

I'm in the UK and I'm getting a replacement charge 2 sent out.
The issue is the update has caused the problems, not the battery dying off its own accord, it's therefore not fit for purpose

When they said mine can't be replaced due to being out of warranty, i said it's not a fault from my side, they've prevented it from carrying on working, had I not of done the update it would be fine.
State that it's not fit for purpose ..
They shouldn't be doing an update that totally crashes and stops things from working and all they suggest is 25% off a new model.

That was exactly my response as well. We won’t fall for that bait and switch.

If I had to buy a new tracker it wouldn't be another fitbit, even with their 25% off, they've a problem with their update, not me having a problem with my fitbit.
Yes if I've broke it, it's down to me, but I'm not being fobbed of with sorry it's out of warranty here's 25% off.
No you need to fix it was your update broke it!!
U don't buy a new phone unless you want a new one or you've broken it out of warranty, you get it fixed. Why should this be any different
They need to fix the problem not pass the buck and say you need a new one as out of warranty!
I'd of happily sent mine to them to fix it but it can't be fixed
