Even after i leave my Fitbit charging for over an hour the indicator does not show any gain. I have tried restarting both the fitbit and the app. Any other suggestions?

Sounds like you have encountered the battery failure problem of the Charge 2 that Fitbit refuses to acknowledge. Check out the many other similar complaints raised on this and all you will be offered is a reduction on buying another, probably short-life product.
