Bike tracking Google gps doesn't work no more

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

At frist my bike route was tracked with Google Maps and GPS, and integrated in the Fitbit software  (like Strava).

Now it only tracks heartbeat and time, so annoying. I want to actually see where I biked. Please can someone help? (Off course my GPS is on, when biking).

@SunsetRunner  It's great to see that you've visited the Fitbit Community! Sorry to hear that your Google Maps GPS data isn't showing on your Fitbit account. Have you been able to link these two apps? Could you share a screenshot of your apps section from the website? The more information I have the better I will be able to assist you.

I look forward to your reply!

This @SunsetRunner  is a screen shot showing that Strava is connected to your Fitbit account. You mentioned your bike ride was recorded with Google maps then mentioned Strava. Adding that this is ..Fitbit, we now have 3 ways of recording  a run. Google maps will not sync to Fitbit.  Both forgot and Strava collect GPS from the phone not Google maps..

The question I think @AlvaroFitbit is what app is being used to track your run.

The Fitbit app, the Android app, Google map, or the Charge 2'using the multisport mode.

Dear Alvaro,

I use the Charge 2 (mode Bike) to record my ride. When finished, I press the button to stop recording the ride. Then I sinc my Charge 2 with my Fitbit app by using Sinc via Bluetooth.

Because the app doesnt show the ride with Google Maps in the overview  (it only shows heartrate, time and calories of the ride), I also use Strava to record my ride. Strava shows my ride, the height of the road, time, speed and lenght. Thats what I need! I only need to add my heartrate via Charge 2, or. ... I preferrably need my Fitbit app to workshop correct and show me the ride with Google Maps. It's even more strange, cause yesterday the FB app did show the ride with Google Maps, a short moment of happiness, but today no Google Maps ride in my FB app. Sad again. I didnt change anything since yesterday.

I don't use the FB app to record, cause you can only choose Run, Walk or Hike. No option to record Bike. I tried 1 time Hike-recording with the FB app, and it uses Google Maps, but it doesnt record 1 ride with the bike correctly, cause the app does record it in parts as a hike. So thats not an option.

Can you somehow help? I already removed and did reinstall the FB app, that didnt help.

Before taking off on the ride, make sure that the Charge 2shows that it has acquired a GPs lock .

If not i usually restart the phone and find the Charge 2 has a lock on the GPS before the phone has fully restarted .

Can you post a photo of what you mean..?

My location icon is active in the Charge 2: in the menu of the clock&heart rate screen.

My GPS of the phone is active, Strava uses that. How come the FB app doesn't work in the same way as  the Strava app? I almost have to do a study to get it working. 😕

Sure, you see the icon of the phone at the top? This is the way it looks when you have a good GPS lock, when there is a line drawn through the phone then there is a problem with the GPS.

As for Strava, this so is running on the phone, when it comes to the Charge 2 it is different.

The Charge 2 connects to your Fitbit App, the actual recording is done on the Charge 2, and then the Fitbit App connects to your phones GPS. Strava simply connects to your phones GPS.Screenshot_20190302-132052_Chrome.jpg

@SunsetRunner  thank you for your updates and pictures. As @Rich_Laue said you can make sure the Charge 2 is connected with your phone so it registers your GPS data. This feature is named Connected GPS and you can learn more about it here.

Keep me posted.

Dear Alvaro,

Thank you for your kind help and patience. My GPS data on the mobile phone is turned on, I did check out. The link on the FB website about Google permissions is linked directly to a devellopers website, too difficult for me as a non-developper (about strings and queries? ).

I did reinstall the app 3rd time. Can you give me 2 or 3 days for a new ride to see if anything has changed? I get back to you after the new ride. Kind regards.

@SunsetRunner  not a problem. Take your time. Hopefully everything will be working fine for you. Just make sure you follow these instructions to use the Connected GPS function on your Fitbit app or see how the integration works on the third party app.

Keep me posted.

Hi Alvaro, it's getting worse. I have reinstalled the app. But the tracker isn't connecting with the app no more (not since 7 March).

I have tried 2 mobile phones, the app doesn't see the tracker, regardless Bluetooth connection,  Wifi.

I feel sad, hoped todays ride would give clarity about the registered ride. Hadn't expected the new problem.

Can you help me out? The tracker itself is working, as far as I can see: screen works when tapping on it, heartrate visible.

It did sync 2 hr ago. Bad news : no map of the ride 😢

The only solution I see is you take me step by step through the proces, cause something isn't working, and the loose tips and links don't help.

Which step to take first?
