Needs to be added!! It should include accurate calorie burning information, calorie intake required, accurate weight gain goals based on bmi and recommended 25-45 pound gain in 40 week time frame, and breastfeeding sessions available as a form of calorie burn after pregnant setting has been turned off.

Hey you @KrystalAnn, it's nice to see you around! Smiley Very Happy The nursing/breastfeeding options are no longer available. Since they had no effect on any data, they were removed to prevent any potential confusion. However, you can create a custom activity, and enter your breastfeeding sessions. You can check the American Pregnancy Association webpage to know the exact number of calories you burn per session.

Hope this provides some clarification.

It would be nice if they could add these.  Otherwise, it's not very useful during pregnancy when you need it most.

I am a bit confused as to how breastfeeding and pregnancy do not effect any data? Can you please explain? Calories are expended in both of these situations. Creation of a custom activity seems to be a poor solution to the problem.

As a breastfeeding mother, I would like to be as accurate as possible when entering information in my Fitbit so it can help me be healthier. I also want to be able to set my dietary and exercise goals correctly. I understand that this is not a medical device, but it should help provide guidance on this situation, especially as it is a condition experienced by MANY women.

Thanks!

I see the last post was in May, do we know when Fitbit is going to add these settings? They would be very helpful to make sure I’m logging my activity accurately and my calorie goal accurately.

Is there a way to edit my profile as pregnant to show the amount of daily calories I should be eating?

Best Answer

I agree! Add in pregnancy and nursing settings!! It keeps telling me I’m overweight and my heart rate is poor when I’m really just 8 months pregnant and not exactly as nimble.

Now that fitbit is helping to track periods I hope this is the next step on their development list!

Breastfeeding moms burn an extra 500 calories a day. I think that has quite a large effect on data... They also don't have time to enter a custom activity 😂. Please make the app better for moms. Add options for pregnancy and breastfeeding.

I know I am late to this convo, but it's still an issue. I wish I could put in my sleep profile that I'm awake at night often like a "hedgehog" because I'm breastfeeding and dealing with a newborn.... I know I wake up during the night and that it takes me a while to get back to sleep.... 🙄
