I am on my third fitbit charge 2. I’ve always wondered why, when I’m in a hurry and kind of trotting (ie, not quite running, but not far off it), my fitbit autodescribes my exercise as “elliptical”. That’s ok, I get that. But despite the fact that my heart rate is really elevated, it always auto records the activity as mostly below zones - ie, at quite a low average heart rate, which is just not accurate. I’ve never understood this and always assumed it to be a fitbit glitch/error. Has anyone else experienced this, and can anyone explain it, please?

Hi, @ReneeBHarris Welcome to the Fitbit Community.
I appreciate your explanation about the exercise app auto detecting the exercise you are doing, even though it is not the correct one. Auto detection works depending on your heart rate and on how it detects your movement, this is why it gives you elliptical since it is a similar exercise, but you can also open the exercise app manually and start the exercise in the Charge 2.
An regarding the heart rate, I advice you to check this article to make you sure everything is ok for the heart rate to be tracked correctly.
Thanks for your efforts!
