My Charge 4 was bought for me as a gift for my birthday in Oct of last year. The band connector piece has started to break on it but has not completely broke yet. I'm upset about this because of the amount money that was used to buy me this as a upgrade from a cheap generic fitbit to the real deal. I had the generic one for almost 3 years before it broke and it was the same size as the Charge 4 and it was only $30.

I have the same issue. My charge 3 lasted 2 years and I only replaced it because the screen was getting dim. I got a charge 4 in 3/2021. In October the band connector randomly fell off. Since I was in warranty Fitbit did replace the device. Just today the same thing happened again. I'm waiting to see what Fitbit will do but now I might be out of warranty. Clearly Fitbit has started using cheaper plastic parts that break easily. I'm tempted to switch to a Garmin watch next time.
