Plastic piece that attaches the band to fitbit broke off. This happened last year with my first Charge 4 within a year of purchasing. Was sent new one. This one lasted 13 months before connector piece breaking.

Same here. I've had five Fitbits in the past seven years. Four were Charges and all suffered the same fate. I got one in Feb '21 and it busted in Sept '21; they replaced it, but the "new" one wasn't complete or in a package as I would have expected. It was just the working unit (no strap) and in a plastic bag. "Refurbished" (ie, "junk"), would be my guess. That one died in June '22 and they wont' replace it because the "warranty" on the replacement only lasts until the warranty on the initial piece of junk would have expired (Feb '22 in this case). They did offer me a 35% discount on and Fitbit but I don't want to ride this particular merry-go-round any more.
On the bright side the fifth Fitbit was an Ionic which died a couple weeks after the warranty expired. They've' since recalled them so I might get my $300 back. I though for a minute about buying a new one with the discount and the refund, but I think I'll go elsewhere... it's a shame because I really liked the Charges while they lasted.
Is it just me or does it seem like Fitbit is headed inextricably down the road to irrelevance, like all things Google and Alphabet?

Same thing happened to me because they changed the lugs to plastic from metal. I was able to get a strap on amazon which you push the charge 4 body into. It holds snug and you can charge without removing from the strap. Also found the same strap on ali express for a fraction of the price so have ordered a spare from there also.

My connector for the strap to the watch also broke. My ownership was in the 2nd year so no help there. I was offered 35 % off regular price which was slightly better than the current promotional sale price!! That was not appealing to me. At that point I asked my husband to do his best with some glue to keep it on. Super glue won and the strap is staying connected. I highly recommend the "super glue treatment." I'm really not confident in the FitBit durability so probably won't buy another. My first was a Charge 3 which was replaced at a couple of days past warranty because of the white lines issue. This Charge 4 with strap problem is my third FitBit and I'm not planning on a fourth.

My husband and I bought our first Fitbits (Charge 4s) around August of 2020. By November we were sending one back for this issue. Took a month and hassle with "customer service"(“You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.”!) to get a new one back, which is now broken again. After reading the forums this is not a new problem and it is obvious they have no intention of listening to their customers to rectify this obvious defect. We had the same issue once with my husband's watch. At this moment, his is still working, but only because he no longer wears it daily. We did enjoy them while they lasted, but a device should not be limited by its attachment point. I too took someone's advice and purchased this watch strap to hold my device: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07PHZ29BT?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details
Not sending Fitbit any more money if they have no interest in fixing this problem with their devices.35% off holds no enticement when I am just going to get the same defective product!!

I did the super glue with mine-used gorilla super glue. It has held for several months. I swim almost daily and so far so good.

Thanks! I opted for the SuperGlue route and so far it seems to be working fine. While I was at it, I decided not to wait for the other connecor to break as well, and just glued the whole thing together.

Thanks! SuperGlue's working well for me so far, too. When it breaks again I think I'll look closely at Suunto, Garmin, Polar, or Coros.
it's sad to see FitBit apparently gong downhill... I've had five in the past seven years...

Had a Charge 3 for about 2 years then it died. "Upgraded" to the Charge 4. Within 8 months the band attachment point broke off. Fitbit sent me a new one in March 2022. That one also broke at the attachment point after 6 months of use and they are refusing to replace it. They did offer a 35% discount. Not such a great deal considering they are on sale for 30% off. Time to move on to an Apple Watch!

Thanks -- that is really good to know. For now, the glue is holding the strap on and there is more glue where that came from!!! 😂 I know I won't buy another FitBit.
