Calibration of calories out

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

After having used Flex 2 for almost two years, which showed an average daily calories out around 2.800 per day, I have changed to Charge 2, which suddenly show a daily calories out around 3.800 per day, during the past three month, despite there are no changes in my daily movements.

My daily live and routines are the same with the same average number of steps, weekly exercise etc.

When measuring by other methods, the average calorie burn was much more correct when I was wearing Flex 2, which means that the Charge 2 are measuring too many calories. Suggest a feature where it is possible to calibrate the measuring of Calories Out or do anyone have a solution how to fix this, without changing my actual weight, as I am also running a Weight Loss program.

A warm welcome to the Community @JK-DK. I appreciate the time that you took to share these details. Great to hear that you bought a Charge 2 after owning a Flex 2.

Sorry for the delay on my reply. Since, you've mentioned that you haven't changed anything on your personal settings or your daily routine. I would like you to restart your Charge 2 and then confirm that all your information is properly entered on your online Dashboard.

Let me know how it goes. Hope this helps.

Thanks, I have tried to reset the Charge 2 a couple of times, but the daily calorie burned are still aorund 4.000-5.000 calories v.s. Flex 2 which shows 2.500-3.000.

I Have also noted that the Active minutes are also registered three time higher on the Charge 2 which shows an average of 1.100-1.300 minutes per week, where Flex 2  shows an average of 200-400 minutes per week, for the similar daily routines.

Maybe the higher registered Active minutes on Charge 2 increases the registered saily Dalorie burn - is it possible to calibrate the Activity minutes to be less sensative ?

Best regards

I assume you have double checked that your profile settings haven't somehow accidentally changed at https://www.fitbit.com/settings/profile

The big difference between the Flex 2 and Charge 2 is that the Charge 2 has heart rate tracking. Your heart rate will be taken into account when calculating calories so if, for some reason, your heart rate was higher than that assumed by the Flex 2 then it might explain some, if not all, of the difference. A higher than expected heart rate would also lead to an increase in Active minutes.

Does your heart rate data seem ok?

Thanks, the profile settings are checked and it is still correct and have not changed.

The heart rate tracking seems OK - it har recorded avr. daily: Resting 50-52 bpm - Fat burn 2-4 hrs - Cardio 1-2 hrs - Peak 0-5 minutes.

Also the Steps, KM, Floors and Excercise Tracking also seems to work very well and the recording reflects the actual movements.

It is only the daily Active Minutes and Calories Burned, which both seems to exceed the actuals, when comparing Charge2 with Flex2 (and other measuring units) on the same two parametres and I am looking for possible calibration/adjustment possibilities in this respect.

Best regards Jimmy
