Can I connect the Charge 4 to Windows 10?

Can you connect a Charge 4 to Windows 10 using a USB Bluetooth 4.0 Adapter? I can see the Charge 4 in Bluetooth device list but cannot connect to it. The Fitbit windows app can't see the Bluetooth dongle.

Any suggestions?

Hello @WicklowWolf

According the Fitbit Specification the Charge 4 does not sync with Windows OS.

"Syncs with Mac OS X 12.2 and up, iPhone 5S and later, iPad 5 gen. and later, Android 7.0 and later."

Will I ever be able to connect charge 4 to windows 10?

Best Answer

I can get it to sync on only one Windows 10 PC at a time.  When I try to since on both my home and office Windows 10 PC it will only sync on one.  I can get it to sync on the other if I re-pair it  This is frustrating.  I did not have this problem with the Charge 2 my new Charge 4 replaced.

Thanks for the info @Giampi71 I was thinking to buy a Charge 4 and this was the question I was about to post.

I guess for some reason the Fitbit business is moving away from supporting the Windows OS as a sync device.

From the Supported Devices webpage;

"You can set up certain devices with the Fitbit app for Windows 10, but our latest products require an iPhone or Android phone."

As a happy clamshell phone user I do not wish to buy a smartphone just so I can have something to sync my fitbit device to. It seems then I will be looking to other manufactures for my device.

Now the Charge 4 will not sync to even one Windows 10 PC.  With multiple posts on this subject, clearly there is an issue, but Fitbit is either not acknowledging it or ignoring it.

How very, very poor. I will no longer encourage my patients to use your products. Having had every previous iteration of Fitbits (most recent Charge 3), I was looking forward to the Charge 4. NO WHERE was there any mention that the Charge 4 would not work with Windows, so I foolishly bought two -- one for my wife and one for me. I have wasted 4 hours trying to setup this device -- time that I could have spent with suffering patients -- to no avail. I feel as though I have been scammed. What do I do with these two (now useless) devices? And don't say go buy a iPhone or Android phone. Is this what I should expect with the Google connection? Please respond

"I have wasted 4 hours trying to setup this device -- time that I could have spent with suffering patients -- to no avail." that was a poor decision on your part.

Sir/Madame,
Actually, NO, this is NOT resolved. There is no indication before buying this product that this Fitbit Charge 4 cannot be setup on a Windows 10 Pro system with Bluetooth (as can the Charge 3). I now am the not-so-proud owner of two (2) Fitbit Charge 4 devices that I cannot use. This deceptive approach by Fitbit of selling devices without warning your (previously) loyal customers that they will not work is more than just a marketing error. As I noted, I own almost all previous iterations and all were able to be setup on Windows 10 devices. I do not own, nor do I wish to purchase, a smartphone with either Android or iOS (a significant additional expense). What "resolution" are you suggesting -- other than having me simply go away and eat the cost of these two useless products? Indeed, how will Fitbit resolve this issue? Should I explore other remedies? A response is requested.
Respectfully,

I bought in Belgium 2 Charge  trackers as well (after each other because thought one was defect) on-line from Coolblue.be. Upon return I am getting my money back. Bought a Garmin instead. Your provider should reimburse you too, because the technical specifications were indeed deceptive. I am using my Charge 2 since several years tomonitor HR for medical reasons. Had also a backup Fitbit Inspire , that rboke down under guarantee. Got that reimbursed from the same webshop, which is now adapting their website to reflect the non-compatibility of the Charge 4 with Windows 10.

Hi @DrJohnHawley and @Shortway, it's good to see you here in the forums.

Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts about the Charge 4. As you know, this device isn't compatible with Windows 10 devices which is described on your tracker's box, the user manual, as well this help article under Troubleshooting steps for all Fitbit devices. I'm sorry for the inconvenience this has caused you and your feedback is appreciated. Our team strives to improve our products and services, and I'm sure your comments won't go unnoticed.

If you need anything else, please let me know.

I just want to say that it does say on the side of the box "WORKS WITH IPHONE AND ANDROID DEVICES. MAC & PC.

Best Answer

I meant to add a picture of the side of the fitbit charge 4 box showing that it does state that it works with a pc but couldn't get the picture to load.

Best Answer

The box states clearly, and I quote, "Tools you need on the platform you chose.  Works with iPhone and Android devices. Mac & PC".  So we seem to have a conflict of information provided by FitBit

Exactly...Fitbit misled...why don't the just implemet the interface on Windows 10?
