The step counter on my fitbit 3 is not bright enough to see, if it was the same as the clock face there would be no problem, can it be done??

Hey there @kronkie, thanks for stopping by! On Charge 3, you can manage basic settings including brightness, heart rate, and button sensitivity directly on your tracker. Open the Settings app and tap a setting to adjust it. Swipe up to see the full list of settings.

If you want to get more information about the basic settings of Charge 3, check here (page 16-20) to see the manual.

For anything else you would like to see implemented in the future, consider visiting our Feature Suggestions board. This is a space where Community users can post features, ideas, and suggestions that they'd like to see in future Fitbit products, accessories, and software and top-voted suggestions get relayed to our product team for review.

I was making some research and was able to find this idea asking for the same:

A warm welcome to the Community @NC1976.

To adjust the brightness on your Charge 3, do the following:

  1. From the tracker, swipe left to Settings
  2. Tap the brightness option and select the option you prefer

The only options I am seeing for the brightness are normal and auto.  The cannot see my steps using the normal brightness.  Is there another way to increase the brightness.

Welcome to the Community @Melissa_1.

Regarding your inquiry, no, there aren't more brightness options, the ones you will see are: Dim, Auto and Normal. You can check the Charge 3 - options to increase brightness please request, vote for it and leave your comment.

my settings app looks like what you've posted except NO "Screen Time Out" option. How do I get that to show, I would like my screen to appear longer than 7 secs

Um. Yeah Fitbit. Where is that setting for screen timeout.  I got all excited then couldn't find it on mine.  Appears you screen shot something in development?  Hmm?  You can tell us (we'll keep it a secret).

Thanks for getting back @COC22 and @JonDavidL.

Can you please be more specific? Are you talking about the brightness option or screen wake? Since, as mentioned the brightness options are: Dim, Auto and Normal.

Keep me posted. Robot Happy

Um.  I was talking about MarreFitbit's screenshot with the "screen timeout" with 10 sec under it.  Which I was pretty clear about in my post.  There is no "screen timeout" on the Charge 3.  I see the original post, from MarreFitbit, with the screenshot was from back in October 2018 so maybe it was something that was originally going to be in the menu but was later removed. The "screen timeout" would be a great addition to the CH3 and appears that Fitbit has already programmed it, but just hasn't released it. Can't wait to hear back now that I've clarified exactly what I was referring to.

I appreciate the clarification @JonDavidL.

Thanks for your question about the Charge 3 timeout option. This was a photo on the Charge 3 manual, this feature isn’t available on Charge 3. We removed the incorrect image from the manual and from @MarreFitbit's post to avoid misunderstandings.

I also can't see my heart rate while outdoor walking. In my settings there are the three options but really not bright enough as the heart rate number is SO small. Again, if one was able to have it as big as the time numbers that would be great...or just better brightness.

I'm wondering where the light sensor is and if I might need to clean it?  I've got the brightness set to auto as normal is way too dim. I'm sitting inside during the middle of a sunny day, flipping my wrist to turn it on. Sometimes the screen is bright enough but mostly not. Quite frustrating especially of I'm outside and just quickly want to see the time or what that notification was about. Seems worse lately.

I know where the settings are and I have it set on normal I can still barely read the screen. Why Can't This be fixed?

It's really unpleasant to not be able to tell what time it is and you have to find a pitch black room or a closet so you can read the screen.

Hopefully someone can help? Thanks.

You would think someone from Fit Bit would find a solution to this
problem. It is very frustrating to have very little light to see the time
or other important information. After all, this is why we have an activity
tracker in the first place.

That is exactly my point also, Mellisa…can’t see my tracker when I’m even walking let along doing aerobic exercise!

For some reason it's even worse midday when I'm outside or even in the car it seems to get dimmer and dimmer. I cup my hand over the face and it's still almost impossible to read. That can't be right.?

It is real bad. When my Fit Bit needs to be replaced, I will need to look
at other options for sure. I like to see the time and my steps. Why
hasn't anyone from FitBit replied?

I posted a few days ago....no response...was wondering the same thing as you: why no answer for this question?!

Best Answer
I posed this question several months ago. Their only response was to go to
settings, well that doesn't really solve the problem.
