@SunsetRunner Welcome to the Fitbit forums! Thanks for taking the time to report the situation you are experiencing with your Charge HR not holding charge.

Just as @WendyB informed, it is not possible to exchange the battery. However, you can try these tips to improve the battery power on your Charge HR. This should help you on getting more battery life.

Hope this helps. Keep me posted! Smiley Happy

I'm very surprised that they would sell a product with a battery that won't hold a charge and can't be replaced.  No one will run out to buy a whole replacement Fitbit.  They will buy something better.  Very poor marketing.

@kewl1It depends on how you charge it

Then Do a Restart

Also See this thread for charging best practices. If you are not charging it correctly you could be damaging the battery

I am very disappointed in the performance of my Ionic Fitbit. Less than two years old, and the battery is "empty" according to my app. Started having to charge it on a daily basis in the last three months, put it on charge yesterday morning at 18%, it failed to charge and now will not charge. I am on the third band for it, the first two that came with fell apart after less than six months use, the after market band was still standing up. What a waste of money this endeavour has turned out to be.

I will NOT buy another knowing that batteries can't be replaced

Yes, you can change the battery but you need to have some technical capability.  Your warranty will, of course, be void.

@fromage9747  this post was November 2018. The other person has an Ionic who posted. Not everyone has the ability to do a battery replacement on a Fitbit. Tiny tools, tiny fingers - way beyond my skills.

@Odyssey13

As per the first sentence of my post:

"Yes, you can change the battery but you need to have some technical capability".

I realise that this post was made a long time ago, but Fitbit Charge HR's are still in circulation and going strong. My wife and father-in-law have inherited two of mine and I have a spare one that I will be embarking on changing the battery and the strap on.

I have already replaced the battery on my Fitbit Surge.

Cheers

What good is an extended warranty that doesn't even exchange your battery?  My battery also won't charge.  Less than two years old.  Throw it away and forget fitbit.  It's junk.

Best Answer

@Krackerhac  if you have an extended warranty, then use it. There is no battery replacement. Any third party replacement wouldn't be covered by warranty.

I wonder if I jeweller could / would do it.

Update:  I just saw how to do it on Youtube.  Yikes!  Way beyond anything I could attempt.  My mother-in-law once said after seeing some steps I made outdoors "If he had tools he'd be dangerous"

Best Answer

It's not that bad.  Watch the video a few times and take it slow.  Take photographs of each step that you do as well so you can refer back to them if you can't remember where something goes.

Slow and steady and you will be able to do it yourself.

Thanks very much, Fromage.  I should try it when my time comes.  I'm still getting close to 4 days out of a charge so I'm probably doing pretty good.  I don't know what the average is or if that is good.  And fortunately, they seem to give me lots of warning that it needs charging so it never shuts off

Correction:  Looks like I'm down to closer to 3 days

why fitbit lasted me about 5 years before i had to replace it and it was not due to needing to replace the battery.

Are you saying replacing the battery did not fix your fitbit?

mine is generating a low bat warning in less than 12 hours

I never was able to find a battery to replace it and read for some, trying
to replace the battery permanently damaged the tracker.

I bought mine recently from here:

I followed this YouTube video for guidance:

Read some of the comments for tips but everything turned out great! I have a few pictures that I can share as well if you need but it's pretty much the same as what is in the video. Easy to do as long as this isn't your first time repairing something with a soldering iron.
