Can my Fitbit Charge 3 be salvaged?

Hi Everyone! I have a Charge 3 that is about 18 months old.  Suddenly over the weekend the watch went dark and doesn't show anything on the screen.  However, the watch continues to sync with my Apple I phone and my laptop computer and appears to be functioning fine . I called Fitbit and the person I spoke with had me plug the charging cord into the computer and hold the side button in for 8 seconds and then pull the charging cord out of the computer and plug it back in.  This did not work and the person I spoke with indicated there was nothing else to do and the  watch was out of warranty but I could buy a different unit for 25% off.  Before I do so, I  wonder if anyone else has experienced a similar issue and if it could be fixed.  Thank you in advance for any responses.

Sometimes doing the restart 3 times like they told you helps. You can try that. But it soundslike its time for RIP 😕
