Can't detach Charge 3 band

My dad and I both gave each other the Fitbit charge 3 for Christmas. His band broke so he was trying to remove it to replace it, but the button won't push at all. He's tried everything in other's comments (washing it, peroxide, using a screwdriver to apply more pressure) and nothing is getting the button to push in. What can be done?
