Can’t read Fitbit Charge 3 display

Hi,

I can barely read my Fitbit Charge 3 display in a dark room. It’s got progressively worse to the point the screen is near enough black constantly. I’ve tried going via the settings App to change the screen brightness but it’s made no difference. Is there anything else I can do? None of the discussion so far seem to have provided an answer and mine is at the point I can’t even read it indoors!

My Charge 3 has the same problem.  Do any of the Fitbit models have a consistently brighter screen?

I think there must be a bad issue with the Charge 3 display fading out. From memory, my previous one had stripes through the readout- looked kinda cool actually until it eventually went blank. My latest one was replaced. I had the option of a straight swap or a discount on another model. Only thing I can think of is to do a Google or fitbit community forum search, and see if the issues are prevalent in other models.

Thanks. Got more from this forum than from Fitbit support. Support offered
me a small discount. But doesn't sell the Charge 3 any longer, which I
want. Oh well. Thanks for your input. Peggy

Pity about your support experience- mine was excellent. They even sent me links to prompt me to go there, as I had trouble finding it initially. I must have got some of the last stock, as I only received my replacement last Monday, and I think it took a week to get here. Good luck on your next one. Like you, I prefer the Charge 3, and not sure what a suitable upgrade would be
Craig

Hope you get your replacement soon too. It took a couple of weeks for my screen to go completely blank. Quite impressed with the time it took to get my replacement unit

I had to argue and push FitBit a little but they did finally replace my Fitbit and the new one has worked quite well for some time now.

I had a long chat and they offered me to replace or give me 50% off a new
products. I took the 50% off and bought a Charge 4.

Great that you got your issue resolved. Maybe I should start doing research on what a suitable replacement would be

I just fixed mine. Scroll to right to settings. Click on it. Brightness may say dim. Click on it and you get choice  of brightnesd normal which is where you click.

That sounds a bit odd. I think my first Charge 3 had issues initially with the display having vertical stripes through it where parts of the readout were fading. The width of the stripes varied- wonder if you are having similar issues, but with a wider faded stripes. Does it stay the same if you change clock faces?

Thanks patmcmill. I was able to do that initially, but the screen kept getting fainter to the point where the display was totally gone. Just before it died, I tried reading the screen with a magnifying glass in a dark room and I still had problems trying to read it.

Yea, I did all the solutions they gave me. It had also some horizontal
stripe.
Anyone they offered me a replacement or 50% discount. Im good.
I just wonder what and why the fitbit does this after 1.3years of use in my
case.

I think 2 of my Fitbits have failed just after a year, and 2 within a year. I will guess that the units are very cheap to produce, and the choice of a swap or discounted upgrade is to do with keeping customers and market share. I would like to think that the feedback we have on our faulty units goes towards improving future models.

Unfortunately, like me, you have had a bad experience, and I don't blame you for not buying another one. Not sure what the life span for them is meant to be, but just over a year is too short
