Can't read text messages from my Charge 3

I received my Charge 3 Fitbit today and I have a notifications setup to notify me on my watch when I receive a text message. The watch will vibrate when I receive a text message but it will not let me scroll down from the clock face to read the text message, it will not let me scroll down word from the clock face at all.
