Can’t reset or add Charge 2 to my account

Hi there,

I seem to be trapped in a loop of endless frustration where I can’t reset my wife’s old Charge 2 or pair it to my account/app.

The Charge 2 doesn’t appear in my wife’s account (either online or in the app) and when I try to set it up the app on my phone, the app never finds the Charge despite being fully charged and on.

Bluetooth on my phone is on and working (I regularly connect to a variety of devices) and I’ve also tried turning Bluetooth on/off. I also gave the Fitbit app permission to use Bluetooth upon launch but the Charge never appears.

Is there a way to force the Charge into setup mode?

Cheers, Ben

OK, got it working by…

  1. On the app, setup a new device and choose a Charge 2 (scroll down the list) so the app is actively searching for a Charge 2
  2. On the Charge 2, hold the button on the Charge 2 for 4 seconds so it restarts
  3. The app should see it and ask you to enter the 4 digit code from the Charge 2’s screen
  4. Enter the code and wait - it took about 5mins before setup finished (look for the thin progress bar, it’s subtle!)
  5. I had to try this twice before it worked the app asked for the code
  6. Ensure the app hasn’t timed-out before restarting, so restart the Charge as soon as the app starts searching

When you Google resetting a charge 2, there are blog posts which say it can be reset but ignore, there’s no way to reset a charge 2.

And for
the above to work, make sure that first…

- The Charge 2 has been removed from all accounts

- That the app on your phone has permission to access Bluetooth

Hope that helps someone.
Cheers, Ben
