Can’t see my display at all when outside. I have a charge 4 and it’s not in sleep mode. Irritating

When I’m out walking I can’t see the time or anything on my charge 4.  I used to be able to see it but not now.  It’s not in sleep mode and I’ve had it about 18 months.

Mine did the same thing..

Go to Settings -> Brightness and tap that between Dim / Normal / Auto... somehow it manages to switch itself to Dim.
