Hello all,
Yesterday I bought a Charge 2 and since then I am trying to set it up. I've read most of the posts about this topic and tried everything but unfortunately nothing works.
- When I attach the power cable to charge the Fitbit, it vibrates but it doesn't show a battery icon. The only thing I see on the screen is the little phone icon and the text "www.fitbit.com/setup". Is this normal?
- I have tried to pair the Charge 2 to my phone (Sony Xperia Z3) using the Fitbit app on the phone and followed the setup steps. However, after typing in the 4 digit code and waiting for a while it shows the "Not working?" text with options to solve the problem. I tried those a number of times but it still does not work. Also I restarted my mobile a couple of times, turned oft and on Bluetooth many times, etc.
- Since setting up did not work with my phone I downloaded the Fitbit App to my Windows 10 computer but the same thing happenens, I can't setup!
- I tried to find a description how to factory reset the Charge 2 but it turns out, there's none :(.
I am very disappointed, irritated and desperate. I hope that someone can give me a solution. Please help!! Thanks in adavance.
Regards,
Linda

Found the solution for my Fitbit Charge 2 install problems: Went to store and bought an bluetooth dongle ($20) and problem solved. Apparently a lot of HP laptops don't have bluetooth.

Yes, older computers do not come with built-in Bluetooth. If you do not see the Blue and white Bluetooth Icon in the bottom right corner by the windows clock you have issues with Bluetooth. If it is just greyed out you just need to turn it on then pray

Anybody who was using the dongle that comes with a Fitbit "One" should just leave it installed on their computer. It is doing the trick for me.

My computer is new. I checked Best Buy where they still sell the same model - a lot of HP laptops don't have bluetooth.

I have been able to get mine working. I had to ask a friend who didn't use a fitbit to download the app on her Samsung smartphone and I was able to connect it through her phone. Once that was done it would sync with the app on my notebook PC as well. We simply uninstalled the app from her phone so I wouldn't get call/text alerts on the fitbit and it's been working well since then. Hope this info helps someone.

So, I posted a new topic on this without realizing this was here, I tried to delete it but don't see an option.
Just got the Fitbit Charge 2. I ran the set up and installed it. When I go to the Fitbit connect it comes up with -

Never mind, my huband has a newer computer and it is working on there. I guess if I want it to work on my computer, I will need to buy the dongle, which still don't understand why it didn't come with one.
Thanks!

I had the exact opposite problem with the dongle - I forgot it was plugged into my desktop PC. I think it may have been interferring with setting up my Charge 2. It would not sync with my iphone nor the desktop. I uninstalled the app and re-installed on both iphone & desktop. Didn't work. Turned bluetooth on phone off and on as instructed to in the user guide. Didn't work. Then I read the comments here regarding the dongle helping with Charge 2 setup and started looking around my desk for it. Voila - it was still plugged into the PC; leftover from my old Charge HR. I unplugged it to look at it and when I did - Voila - everything started working! My iphone recognized the Charge 2 immediately and it is now working. Think Fitbit needs to add comments regarding these type charging/setup issues to their troubleshooting in the guide. I spent well over an hr trying to get mine working. The original HR was a piece of cake to setup. Thankful for the comments on this board; otherwise Charge 2 would be on its way back to the store!

My record with the dongle is spotty. I am on a laptop in the same room as spouse who still has a Fitbit "One" & a dongle on his machine as well. If I leave my dongle installed, sometimes the laptop comes up & complains that I should uninstall the fitbit.com that I'd been using with my "One" & warns me that there is a "Base station error." I *have already* uninstalled the older software (but my husband has not, since he is still using it). I remove the dongle, wait several seconds, and re-attach it. Then, usually it works fine. Sometimes it does not complain at all. I have not done the necessary detective work to determine what is going on. I should probably turn my "One" off, but I haven't researched out how to do that. I moved it a couple of rooms away, but this is a small house ....

I can't charge mine either as I keep getting the same icon and message as the original poster. It vibrates OK when I connect it but I don't get the battery icon. It's been connected for almost two hours now but when I take it off the charger, absolutely nothing works, regardless of what I press or tap. It must have some power because it keeps displaying the same phone icon and 'www.fitbit.com/setup' message but it won't actually do anything. This has to be one of the worst products I've ever owned!

@Slartibartfarst: I suggest you leave it connected to the charging cable and continue to try the installation on your device, whether phone or computer. Until mine was fully installed, the battery icon did not appear, however once the installation on my computer was complete then the Charge2 worked, and when I went to charge its battery the next time, the battery icon displayed as described.

OK, it does appear to have power but I still can't get it set up. My phone really doesn't want to download the app for some reason so I've put it on my PC instead. My PC is telling me that my Charge 2 is paired with the PC but when I try to go through the setup process on the app it says there's an issue and it isn't paired. In the meantime, I can still only get this icon of the phone and the same message on the unit itself.

I have the same issues as you when I first got my Fitbit charge 2. I plug it in to charge and no battery icon show up. After unplugging and plugging for a bit I realized the snap on charger was not align properly. After wiggling it until it snap a perfect fit (snug like) it vibrate that it takes charge then the battery icon pops up.
Now for it not syncing yo your phone or computer.. I had the same issues too. In my case, my boyfriend's phone Bluetooth was on and it was within approximaty when I was trying to sync mine - that's the reason it couldn't sync.. cause it didn't know which one to sync too. Make sure allother Bluetooth device is turn off so it can only pick up your phone. Hope this help.

@Slartibartfarst: I agree with @Lphan301: If your Charge2 is confused, power down your phone until you have success with pairing to your computer.

Hi Rich
I am trying to set up a fitbit charge 2 on a dell inspiron 15 laptop or a samsung galaxy ace 3, Im having no luck with either of them, any ideas??

@LisaJaneMad: I suggest that
1) You confirm that your phone is on the list of compatible devices
2) You confirm that your computer is equipped with Bluetooth & you know how to turn it on.
3) If both #1 and #2 are affirmative, you can choose either device to pair the Charge2 with.
4) If either # 1 or # 2 are negative, you power that device off
5) If both #1 and #2 are negative, you will need a Fitbit "dongle" for your computer, so go get one
6) If you have only one device powered up, & its Bluetooth functionality working, then you might achieve success.
