Well @haybrionthis is a hot subject.

I'll start by saying that you never got step credit for bike rides, your step credit came from the bimps in the road and strickly based on how bumpy the ride is.

There has been one group of people very upset that the bumps are recorded during rides and want them removed. A second group wants the rides directly converted to steps,  I'm  not sure what the conversion factor wpuld be based on,  calories, distance or time?

I havent looked at it recently, but it might be that Fitbit has answered the feature requesr to have steos removed.

Now is it a problem, where you walking the bicycle? Is it really fair to give steps for a non-stepping exercuse?

That is interesting.  I never got step credit for bike rides, except for a few bumps & grinds that triggered the tracker to count a step here or there.  I don't know how you convert peddling a bike into steps - everybody pedals different gear ratios, so there or more or less steps to every mile...

It is funny my husband gets steps for bike rides but I don't. We ride together everyday.

I'm pretty much okay with not getting credit for steps while riding my bike, but I really resent not getting distance credit when I bike 5 to 10 miles and it doesn't show up on my distance travelled goal of 3.5 miles...kinda stinks....guess I'll drop that goal to 0...kinda sucks

I think it's fair to put your fitbit on your ankle during a ride.  I compared the results to walking the same distance and it was very similar.

@Greer are you comparing the calories burnt for walk compared to Bike?

Let's say you bike 20 miles in an hour and compare this to a 4 MPH walk. Will 1 hour of biking burn about the same calories as a 5 hour walk?

Fun suggestion... might have to figure out a method to get it around my
ankle, I'm up for the challenge 👍

I put my fitbit inspire HR in my compression sock ... it registers both activity and pulse.

As long as the manually start bike exercise mode is used, it should record the time as biking.

My Inspire HR only allows manually starting Run / Walk / Hike ... I guess I'm in the wrong forum.  Sorry.
