Can you turn off the auto light at night when you're in bed?

Every night when I go to sleep, my Fitbit Charge 2 lights up when I move my wrist in a position that it interprets as me lifting my wrist to check the time or my steps.  This glowing light in turn wakes up my wife and makes sleep difficult for the both of us.  Is it possible to turn off this feature at night so it won't light up during a predefined period each day?  Otherwise, I might be forced to stop wearing it each night when I sleep which defeats the purpose of tracking my sleep patterns.  Thak you in advance for your help.

Currently the only way to do this is to turn Quick view off. Have you added your votes to the request for an easier way to turn QV off. Or the request for a QV schedule time?

Links may be found by searching or earlier in the this thread.

Better fix, tail light repair tape from the hardware store.  It’s red and transparent.   $6.99 gets you a meter of the stuff.  Cut to fit display and apply.  Instant light filter.

The idea of the tennis wristband is brilliant - I've been trying to figure out what I could do in SoulCycle (no bright lights in a dark room). This idea will help as there are no settings that have helped yet.

I think it should be easy enough for Fitbit to implement a feature where it just does not turn on if it knows you're sleeping. It already knows you're asleep so the quick view could be overwritten during those times

@Milksheik I see one misconception in your post. The Charge 2 doesn't know that the wearer is asleep, the sleep is not determined until after the user wakes up and syncs the tracker. Then on the cloud service sleep is calculated.

The way I see it, the easiest way to implement a feature would be to have a DND mode that matches your bedtime/wake up time. Or something that could be set using times independent of your sleep goals. Whichever is easier!

Yes please, give us this feature!!

I hope everyone has added their vote to the feature suggestion.

Turn off quick view when I'm sleeping (or at custo...

Please remember that it is the votes in the Feature Suggestion board that get the developers attention.

Posting in this thread we are now looking at is mostly about users helping users and neither are able to implement this option. At best we can suggest work around a as turning off quick view, putting a sweat band, or black tape over the tracker.

You can cut a blue blocking screen protector so that it fits your watch's screen. I've tried a tail light protector from Canadian Tire. It's readable in low lighting but I could hardly read it in sunlight.

Interestingly, users have been voting for this feature since 2015. Wonder how long it will take FitBit to get it implemented.

The request is to be able to turn off quick view while sleeping, the user has the ability to turn of quick view on every Fitbit model.

One problem with the tracker and the ability to automatically turn quick view off slurring sleep is that only the Versa and Ionic actually detect sleep in the band. The Charge 2 only records things and then after waking up and a sync. The sleep is determined in the cloud.

Perhaps, having an option to turn off the quick view (light coming on when
you raise your hand) during certain hours would be more appropriate than
"when you are sleeping". Understandably you can turn it off so it never
comes on, but that isn't the request. The request is only for set hours,
as the light wakes people up when they move when sleeping.

Since we are simply in a discussion with fellow Fitbit users. The request simply states that Fitbit knows when your sleeping, this statement is false for the Charge 2. Fitbit knows when you where asleep after the user has weaken up.

While I do not find it so, there are posts stating that the Charge 2 at night. lights the room up as bright as the Sun does at noon.

They'll never implement it in your current device.  3 years and still "under consideration"?  And they say it will only be in Ionics and future devices if they get around to it.

That's a company not interested in ideas, only in hardware sales and subscription fees - and a lesson to all consumers not to bother buying Fitbit hardware again.

Precisely what I was thinking!

Or maybe you can set a specific time slot?

It's either off or on. There's no 'do not disturb' time zone unfortunately.

I turned it off weeks ago, and use an actual watch to tell the time.  Fitbit is a basic HR monitor as far as I can tell.  Maybe it can work as a social thingy.  Not sure.  Good luck!

Where is quickview in the settings then? I can get into settings but there is no quickview there.

Go to the Fitbit App Dashboard and click on the Account Icon at the upper right and then on Charge 2 and scroll to "Quick View".  After you set it, sync your tracker.

Thank you for solving my problem -- the Quickview feature to prevent my charge 2 from waking me and my husband at night when I turn while sleeping. It ends those random "fireflies" elicited by nocturnal movements with my fitbit watch. Thanks for your post.
