Every night when I go to sleep, my Fitbit Charge 2 lights up when I move my wrist in a position that it interprets as me lifting my wrist to check the time or my steps. This glowing light in turn wakes up my wife and makes sleep difficult for the both of us. Is it possible to turn off this feature at night so it won't light up during a predefined period each day? Otherwise, I might be forced to stop wearing it each night when I sleep which defeats the purpose of tracking my sleep patterns. Thak you in advance for your help.

For Fitbit the Charge 2 is old news and therefore represents little fiscal return sorting out its problems.
i won’t be buying another Fitbit.

Sad to see this thread started in 2017 and there is still no simple firmware update. Both my wife and I bought Charge 3s in hopes of better understanding our sleep patterns. But since the bright display keeps turning on in the middle of the night and waking us up we have gotten less sleep than ever. Our Fitbits have come off and we are going back to wearing our Apple watches during waking hours for fitness tracking. Very disappointed.

@KAC123 for the Charge 3 simply hold in the button and then tap screen off. You can also set the brightness to dim at night.
BTW your posting on the Charge 2 board and commenting about the Charge 3

what type of movement is causing your Charge 2 to turn on?
Have you disabled quick view?

I have an ionic, if you hold the left button in it will take you to a screen that lets you turn off notifications and and screen wake, just put them on manual and off, it’s not perfect but better than logging into phone and finding it, this takes seconds to do. Hope this helps.

@JohnnyD1968 you say that you have an ionic. You do not have the option to do this through the app.. I forget how but on the Charge 2 there is an option to run of the quick view.
@Christofer. the way these forums works is that a person posts a question. Someone then responds if the response fixes the problem for the original poster they are encouraged to mark the post that helped them as solved. This normally tells others how thy OP solved their issue.
Now if a person finds that the solution does not work for them, they would want to start a new thread explaining their problem and not jump into a solved 18 month ago and complain it is not solved. So who marked it solved? The one person who was asking the question and got answer that worked for them.
Start your own thread, explaining your issue and you can then mark whatever post you want as a solution.

Despite turning Quickview off the light keeps coming on when my arm moves. When I go back into the app, low and behold the Quickview option is turned back in. It’s light my Fitbit is possessed by a poltergeist. The suggested fix doesn’t work despite the Fitbit posts that claim this is the fix.

As many other comments here have said - my QV is turned off and during the day no amount of moving my arm will make the screen light up, yet at night simply moving my arm to a new sleep position causes it to light up.
if this has been solved is it possible to see the specific trail that did this so that all of us still asking this question can see what the solution is?
forgot to mention...I have a Charge HR

I have an ionic, so not sure about the rest of them but if you press and hold the left button in it will bring you to 2 screens 1 is music and the other is screen wake and notifications turn the screen wake to off before you go to bed and it won’t wake you, same for notifications, don’t forget to turn it back on during the day !!! Hope this helps.

@JohnnyD1968. this process as explained in the solution works on the newer trackers.
@KirstieSW the Charge HR auto light setting is found in the app under the trackers settings.
The question is: Can auto light be turned off at night, the original poster marked a post explaining how to turn off auto light.
No one asked how to disable the screen while asleep and as you point out, you have successfully turned of auto light.
Your tracker also responds it taps, does not have a touch screen, if indeed it is a charge HR, and when tapped twice will turn on the light. This however has nothing to do with the auto turn on of the display.

This problem is not solved. The solution doesn't turn off the display at night. It needs to be able to be totally turned off so we can sleep. I just bought a charge 3 and was going to recommend it for my community but I was shocked at how it randomly lights up and totally disturbs my partner and I. Doesn't Fitbit know how annoying that is and totally disruptive of sleep. I am returning it and not recommending it to my community. Hopefully another manufacturer has created fitness and sleep tracker watch with some thoughtfullness to this very obvious and common sense feature. Without have to have a bunch of people complain about it and wait for a feature request to be voted up. Yeah, the developers are waiting for a feature request for the watch that tracks the quality of your sleep to not actually intentionally disrupt the quality of your sleep. Fitbit sleep tracker is currently a useless feature. I ended up taking it off last night

@Jon93449 go into the quick settings on your Charge 3 and turn quick view off. This will keep the watch from turning on when tossing around at night.
Note that pressing the button will still turn on the screen.

Turn it off then try rotating your arm, does the screen light up?
One issue is if the screen is shut off so that it is impossible to turn on, how will someone enable quick view?
