Cannot get my Fitbit Charge HR to charge

I have an older Fitbit charge, purchased in 2015. I have not used it since 2016, decided to dust it off and start using it again… When plugging it in to charge, the battery icon will come up, but it never goes into charging mode, left it plugged up for 24 hours, and nothing. Cycle of the power button, tried to reset, nothing. Help.

Yes, I really would not expect your charge to charge. Leaving the battery dead for 5 years has very likely destroyed the battery. 

Sorry but that is one of the issues with rechargeable batteries.
