@Vividus1967 Welcome to our Community! You will need to setup your tracker before you can sync it to either your computer or iPad. You should be able to use your iPad to setup and then sync your tracker. You will need to install the Fitbit app (look for iPhone apps) and tap join in, this will guide you through the process of creating your account and setting up your tracker. If you already have an account you can tap on log in and enter your information. If you use your computer it must have an integrated bluetooth chip and you will need to download the Fitbit Connect software on a Mac or the Fitbit app for Windows 10.

To troubleshoot any setup issue you may want to restart the bluetooth on your iPad, restart your computer and restart the Charge 2 by doing the following:

1. Plug the charging cable into the USB port on your computer or any UL-certified USB wall charger.
2. Clip the other end of the charging cable to the port on the back of the tracker. The pins on the charging cable must lock securely with the port.
3. Make sure the button on your tracker is aligned with the button opening on the charging cable. You’ll know the connection is secure when the tracker vibrates and you see a battery icon on your tracker’s display. Your Charge 2 will begin charging.
4. Press and hold the button on your tracker for four seconds. When you see the Fitbit logo and the tracker vibrates, this means the tracker has restarted.
5. Unplug your tracker from the charging cable.

Let me know how it goes!

This seemed to work....but my real question is "What caused it to not sync in the first place?  Is this a common occurance?"

@GSPFB Thanks for joining us! I have personally not needed to restart my tracker to sync it even though I use different devices to sync with it. There are many variables that can affect the syncing process like many bluetooth devices nearby that obstruct the the process or many devices paired to your phone that may also interrupt the process, your phone could need a restart once in a while to remove all cache data and help it work as intended or just the tracker needing a restart. Still I am happy to hear that you were able to resolve the issue by following my previous instructions.

I am currently unable to sync my Charge 2 to my phone or computer. No other devices are nearby. It also runs out of battery really fast. Purchased less than a week ago and have set it up and had in use since.

Hold the button on your fitbit for 4 seconds to reset. Also try restarting
your mobile deviceand toggle bluetooth on/off. Try the same thing if you
are syncing to a computer.

YES - I'm not liking the Charge 2. I get it to sync and it doesn't hold a charge like my Charge. I thought I would upgrade but am regretting my purchase. I've had a fitbit before so I know what to expect. Very frustrating.... wonder if I bought a lemon?

I made a YouTube Video on how to fix the syncing issue by restarting your Fitbit:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hlfSejr6ZRQ

If your Fitbit device has one of the following problems, it may be fixed by a restart: -Not syncing -Not responding to button presses, taps, or swipes -Charged but doesn't turn on -Not tracking your steps or other stats -Not Recording Active Minutes Follow These Steps: 1. Plug the charging cable ...

The advice was excellent, thank you. Unfortunately, the last time my Charge 2 synced was when I went through this exercise a month ago. In other words, it was a one time fix and did not continue. I have been a Fitbit fan for several years (probably 3 or 4) but am about ready to put it into a drawer. If it does not track, there is little value,

I had similar issue. Support was very unhelpful.
