I noticed over the last week or two that the calories burned count during long (4 to 6 mile) dog walks in the hills and 45-50 minute workouts are different than they were over the last year and a half. For instance, a 4.7 mile walk on Dec. 20 burned 650 calories. A 4.8 mile walk today, over the same terrain, burned 411 calories. I'm finding similar differences in my usual work out. Also yesterday I did a 8.9 mile hike with 1700 feet of elevation. My Charge 4 recorded 650 calories burned. A similar hike in December recorded 1670 calories. (A friend I was with yesterday recorded 1860 calories burned on his FitBit.) Has something changed in the way calorie counting is recorded in the Charge 4? I understand that there might be fluctuations but this inconsistency, more like an actual change, seems odd. Any help? Thanks.

I don't believe the algorithms have changed but is it possible that your profile settings have? If there has been a change in your weight, height etc then this would affect the calorie calculations. It's worth a quick check of your settings at https://www.fitbit.com/settings/profile

SteveH,
Thanks for the reply. I have not changed my settings in several months. I did lose some weight (by tracking my calorie intake and outtake!) but I changed that setting months ago. Again this morning, 5.6 mile walk burned 430 calories, similar walk on December 21 burned 797. I feel like I'm being gaslighted.
