I'm having exactly the same problem, almost 2 years after the first post in this thread.

I contacted CS, hoping for a way to fix or repair the watch. Instead, I was told to search for the 'Suggest a feature' thread and put a request in 'To help future iterations of the Fitbit watches be even better'.

With all due respect to Fitbit, being told I should put in a feature request, when my watch is broken, is really, really bad service. This is a problem that a lot of people have. It's not simply a case of 'I wish my watch would do xxx'.

This isn't people losing their eyesight. This is the watch failing. If seeing the screen in daylight wasn't a problem when we bought the watches, but it is 12 months later, that's a defect. Plain and simple.

For what it's worth, I'm posting my emails with customer service. Every
time I reply, you will notice that a different customer service person
replies. Sometimes the person replying doesn't read the entire history of
communication about the issue and gives an irrelevant reply.
Also, when I bring up the issue of product development, I basically get
"corporate speak" back saying, oh we work very hard to make our product the
best, which has not been borne out in my personal experience with the
company.

Within *the first year* of owning my Charge 2: (I bought on June 24, 2017-
so the warranty is over on June 24, 2018, a month from now.)

1. the band has broken twice. (ie; the 1 year warranty replacement band
broke in the exact same spot within about three months.
2. Also within the first year, my Fitbit screen visibility tanked.

Because it was in the first year, they replaced.
Here is the email exchange:

*Thank you for your kind reply.*

*However, I have already gotten a new "off brand" band b/c the Fitbit bands
keep breaking in the same place.*

*Now I have a different problem.*

*I can no longer see the screen when I am outside/ in daylight of any sort.
*

*it is dim and seems to be "failing" even inside when I charge it. *

*you can see that the brightness of the led is uneven/ fading. getting
dull.*

*May I get a new one? *

*I've tried plugging it in to the charger and holding the power button down
for 4 seconds until it vibrates.*

*The problem persists.*

*I like the idea of the product, but am frustrated at having so many issues
within my first year of owning it. It will be a year on June 24 ish. *

*I get the impression that corners were cut to keep the cost down and now
the end user experience is less than stellar, well mine anyway.*

*I appreciate your patience and desire to be helpful.*

*Thank you,*

*Laura*

Hi Laura,

Let us assist you further to ease this issues with the band and the dim

Hi Laura,

Thank you so much for letting us know the information requested in the
prior email. We appreciate it.

In this case in order to move forward in this process and based in our
policies, we'd like to request you an additional photo of the band that is
presenting the issue, showing the Fitbit logo and the same case number
handwritten (24305361). Besides this, please let us know where did you
purchase the band showed in the photos sent.

Also in regard to the dimmer display, we'd like suggest you a restart
process that should solve this situation. To do so:

1. Plug the charging cable into the USB port on your computer or any
UL-certified USB wall charger.
2. Clip the other end of the charging cable to the port on the back of
the tracker. The pins on the charging cable must lock securely with the
port.
3. Make sure the button on your tracker is aligned with the button
opening on the charging cable. You’ll know the connection is secure when
the tracker vibrates and you see a battery icon on your tracker’s display.
Your Charge 2 will begin charging.
4. Press and hold the button on your tracker for four seconds. When you
see the Fitbit logo and the tracker vibrates, this means the tracker has
restarted.
5. Unplug your tracker from the charging cable.

We look forward to your reply so we can bring you back on track as soon as
we can Laura. Any other issue or inquiry that may come your way meanwhile,
please inform us, we're here to help you.

Sincerely,

*Diana C.V. and the Fitbit Team*

*As I noted earlier in this email chain, I have done the process you
suggest with no change. *

*I also mentioned that I am NOT requesting a band exchange. I got a new one
from an alternate brand on eBay b/c yours has broken twice in less than a
year. *

*But I am requesting a new Fitbit charge 2 (with or without band) because
the screen is broken. *

*Three things have broken in less than a year. *

*to the corporate powers that be:*

*In one of your replies, you wrote:*

*"Fitbit trackers are made to last. However, due to some factors that are

*That has not been my experience with my Fitbit 2. It seems they are not
made to last. *

*to the individuals helping me with this issue: I'm grateful you are
working with me to replace my Fitbit. *

*thank you, Laura Calley*

Correct. It is a defect/failure with the device. Mine failed during recharge this am. I was informed I was out of the 1 yr warrenty by 6 months (though total use time as shown by log was less that 6 month.) Best they could do was 25% off coupon. My online research reveals a lot of similar problems with fitbit priducts. While they do apparently honor the warrenty, they do not value their customers. Do not recommend fitbit products. There are plenty of alternatives out there.

I have the same issue. I bought a Fit 2 in June 2018 and it was completely unreadable = useless outdoors. I contacted customer service and they sent me a replacement which is identically unreadable = useless. They claim it is light adjustable which I assumed meant functional inside and outside but it is still unreadable = useless outdoors. How can a company sell a fitness device for outdoor use that is unreadable = useless?! This nuts. It never should have been released or sold to unknowing victims like me 😞 Many competitors products work fine outside. Maybe other Fitbit products work as well. But for me this was a waste on money and I won't buy another Fitbit Product unless they make me whole by replacing it with something that works. A discount couplon on a new product I have to buy is unacceptable.

Instead of trying to convince your fellow Fitbit users,  I have searched the Feature Suggestion board, where users make their thoughts known to the developers and can not find a request for an increase in the Charge 2 brightness,  but then again soon ot will be a year since the Charge 2 wa sold

No, the Fitbit charge 2 is not bright enough.  When I'm outside you can't see the display. I have to find shade .
