Distance recorded through app, not accurate compared to record through watch and connected GPS. About 10% error. Checked repeatedly in run

Hi @crsh.  Welcome to the Fitbit forums.

If not using connected GPS, distance is calculated as number of steps times stride length.  Fitbit makes an educated guess at your stride length based on your physical traits, but cannot know exactly.  If you are consistently 10% off, that can probably be fixed by adjusting your stride length by 10%.

See this help article: How do I measure and adjust stride length for my Fitbit device?

Note that there are separate stride lengths for walking and running.

Before posting, re-read to see if it would make sense to someone else not looking at your Fitbit or phone.

Thanks for reply. To clarify better...

I checked both options with connected GPS ( mobile in my pocket), but run controlled by watch gave better accuracy compared with run controlled by app.

Checked this many a time.

Funny part is I can record the same run using app as well as watch!!!
