Fitbit Update: 8/14
Hey all!
Today we have completely released (out to 100%) this new Charge 2 firmware (22.58.0) to all users. This means everyone should now see it available for download in the Fitbit app. Please update to this new firmware. For instructions on how to complete the update, read How do I update my Fitbit device?
If you come across any difficulty updating, read Why can't I update my Fitbit device?
We've included bug fixes and improvements in this new firmware and always recommend having your tracker up to date, including the Fitbit app on the latest app version.
Fitbit Update: 7/24
Hi everyone,
We’re excited to announce a new firmware update for Charge 2 (version: 22.58.0).
We've begun releasing this new firmware to customers. This is a progressive rollout which means everyone will receive it at different stages until it has been completely released to all users. We roll out releases in phases as a cautionary measure so that we can monitor performance closely and make adjustments if needed.
*Firmware releases are not distributed based on region or location and can reach anyone no matter where you reside. We do not recommend performing a factory reset to force the update to your device as your data will be lost and you may not get the update. Please be patient and wait until you see the update banner inside of the Fitbit app to begin the firmware download.
WHAT’S NEW AND FIXED
This release includes other bug fixes and improvements.
HOW DO I UPDATE?
Step by step instructions for updating your Charge 2 can be found here.
If you run into any trouble updating your Charge 2, I recommend reviewing these troubleshooting tips.
Looking forward to hearing everyone's feedback on the latest release. If you have any questions, feel free to let me know!

After reading cyndin1 post about plugging into her mac I took mine and plugged into my laptop. Charge2 turned back on worked half a day then quit again. every once in awhile it will turn on as I put it on the charger (both laptop and wall) but no menus. Just says 22.58.00 then nothing. My phone will sync but zero data has transferred.
Hoping there is a fix soon! Good luck my bricked friends!

I believe it’s quite possible that Fitbit is either intentionally causing these problems or simply deciding not to iron out the kinks for older trackers. I would hazard to guess everyone who has had problems are using a tracker that is several years old.
What’s a bit more problematic is that they have enough behavior data that they know who will upgrade and who won’t. Whether not they are using that to target the disabling to specific people or types of people Ian anyone’s guess.
My HR stopped working after the update and I ended up getting a new charge 3.

As mentioned before if you have tried the suggestions listed and the issue persist then reach out to our Support team for further assistance as they are the ones who can review the warranty status and provide options based on that.
I'll be around.
Hello everyone and thank you for your responses. We have destroyed your out of warranty devices deliberately. As they are all out of warranty, please reach out to our support team so we can make more money by selling you a new one.
As mentioned by PJFARR, what has this got to do with warranty? You broke peoples devices regardless of warranty... Why should they be paying you for a new one?
As an aside I read the release notes link for this firmware update. It just says various bug fixes. Considering it had no bugs beforehand, am I right in thinking that the only bug it fixed was that the device was still working perfectly?

My problem with the firmware update is that the screen that shows how much battery life is remaining does not seem to be working properly. I've had a couple of instances since I installed the update over the weekend where the Fitbit said I was at 50% battery and then next thing I know the Fitbit is dead and I have to put it on the charger. Then when I go to put it on the charger it will say it is fully charged after 5 minutes and I know there is no way it could possibly be fully charged since before the update it would take an hour to fully charge when the battery was low. I had never had the Fitbit die even once before the firmware update, but now it has happened 2-3 times in the few days since I downloaded the update. Seeing how many other people are posting that they are suddenly having problems with their battery life I hope that there is some sort of fix being worked on to address this issue, it's not cool thinking the Fitbit is fine because it says it's at 50% only to have it die 5 minutes later when it wasn't a problem before the update.

😂😂😂😂
I'm going nowhere near Support because I know my previously-working-perfectly Charge 2 is out of warranty. 😂😉

So the update went well, didn't notice any changes. However, the version number now reads 22.22.58. Why the double 22?

My fitbit just went into some crazy possessed mode. It is starting and stopping the stopwatch, then its turning on and off the notiications...starting and stopping exercise routines..not syncing.not responding to button being held for >10 seconds to reset...
What do i do to make this stop?
I have already deleted the app, reinstalled, resynced, held the button etc.

I have wasted several hours on this and still I am unable to update the firmware on my Charge 2 HR.
I've followed all of the troubleshooting tips, restarted both phone and fitbit multiple times, reinstalled the app, deleted the device, added the device, I think this is now beyond what Fitbit should expect a customer to do.
Please can you release a fix as soon as possible because this is obviously not an isolated issue. I am simply fed up of Fitbit releasing rubbish and eating up hours of my limited family time. If you want to continue with this approach to customer services then you should label your devices as Beta.

My fitbit has been erratic since this update, exercise classes that usually have me at 700 calories burned have been recording 950+, today on the elliptical I did 3200 strides and it gave me 600 steps, it usually catches at least 2000 of them, not happy. Also the app is way worse now.

How long typically is warranty? I've read 45 days and I've read 2 years. I also tried contacting them on twitter about this too and they gave me the same old song an dance I'm sure everyone else has gotten. Clearly they give no **ahem**s about their image since they are putting out a bad update and treating affected customers like garbage. The only reason I haven't been affected is because I haven't done the update due to it only becoming available the other day & having read the community posts about it breaking devices.

Warranty length depends on where you got your fitbit from. I have heard that fitbit only gives 45 days, stores may have their own policies and in the EU it is 2 years.
If you are on a short warranty do not wait for a fix from fitbit. Start your return action as soon as you have a problem or you could be stuck with a brick.
