Fitbit Update: 8/14
Hey all!
Today we have completely released (out to 100%) this new Charge 2 firmware (22.58.0) to all users. This means everyone should now see it available for download in the Fitbit app. Please update to this new firmware. For instructions on how to complete the update, read How do I update my Fitbit device?
If you come across any difficulty updating, read Why can't I update my Fitbit device?
We've included bug fixes and improvements in this new firmware and always recommend having your tracker up to date, including the Fitbit app on the latest app version.
Fitbit Update: 7/24
Hi everyone,
We’re excited to announce a new firmware update for Charge 2 (version: 22.58.0).
We've begun releasing this new firmware to customers. This is a progressive rollout which means everyone will receive it at different stages until it has been completely released to all users. We roll out releases in phases as a cautionary measure so that we can monitor performance closely and make adjustments if needed.
*Firmware releases are not distributed based on region or location and can reach anyone no matter where you reside. We do not recommend performing a factory reset to force the update to your device as your data will be lost and you may not get the update. Please be patient and wait until you see the update banner inside of the Fitbit app to begin the firmware download.
WHAT’S NEW AND FIXED
This release includes other bug fixes and improvements.
HOW DO I UPDATE?
Step by step instructions for updating your Charge 2 can be found here.
If you run into any trouble updating your Charge 2, I recommend reviewing these troubleshooting tips.
Looking forward to hearing everyone's feedback on the latest release. If you have any questions, feel free to let me know!

Been having a lot of issues since the update. The battery life of my charge two went down to less than 2 days, while before it was around 3 to 4 days. And I’m having significant issues with the syncing of heart rate data in exercises. I’m not receiving an average heart rate when I’ve done a run. It only shows in the heart rate part of the app.

I got the same exclamation mark error. I restarted my phone and opened up the Fitbit app and restarted the update and it went fine the second time. Hope it helps!!

After looking very briefly through this thread, I’m glad I’m not part of the bricked club, yet.
I lost the menu on the Fitbit that showed my moving hours. It was still on the app, but nothing on the device. I’m m on the 3rd restart because that’s the only option apparently.
I have to wait because the battery drained overnight.
I’ve never wanted to revert an update more than this one.

My sleep tracker is no longer recording the proper sleep times. I got up a 6:00 this morning and it show I got up at 4:30. It has been wrong every more since the update. I wish we had an option to go back to the previous version.

i have a fully charged fitbit charge 2, an up to date apple 8 plus, I upgrade the software on the app and from then on it won't transfer details to my phone it won't let the app contact with the fitbit and the app won't upgrade the software for the fit bit, it won't even recognise it and before you say is bluetooth on ...YES, this up date of the app has rendered what was working perfectly null and void, going back to my apple watch.

Thanks! Good to hear. So maybe there's hope yet with this update having bugs worked out finally! I may attempt to try my download again and see what happens.

By the way, I sincerely thank all the users who've posted on this blog about the problems. I just got the prompt to update, and am quite happy to not do it.

Out of warranty replacement. When you call they claim they had never head of the issue but then read talking points “a small number of customers have issues out of the thousands of users...”
I am going to give it a few days to see if a dead bat reset will fix before filling out the link to get my replacement.
There are so many bugs with the release - the outlook meeting notification killed mine. There was an issue with the time zone change as well and silent alarms.

I figured that I'd give my tracker another chance to get its .... stuff together and link to my account. I'm currently looking at the Bluetooth on my phone that is picking up someone else's Versa and Alta HR (at the same time!) but not my Charge 2, indicating to me that my phone works fine with Fitbit devices (because why would it pick up a Versa AND Alta belonging to someone else if not?!?).... just not mine. Thank you once again for completely killing my Fitbit.

Don't totally give up hope just yet. As I've posted before on this thread and on the community your Charge 2 might still be recoverable. When my 19 month old Ionic became locked in the boot up loop last month it appeared to be doomed (and just like now with the Charge 2 there were MANY others complaining). The green LED's on the back did not light up, Bluetooth on my Pixel 3 would no longer recognize the Ionic, nothing. Trying the recommended remedies found on the forum and Fitbit website did not help; I did finally get out of the logo boot up screen and moved to a less promising large red "X" inside a red circle screen. Went so far as to buy a new Ionic on Amazon Prime Day since the price was so good and figured being so far out of warranty that was my best option. One of the monitors on the community forum saw one of my posts, routed my issue to tech support who did reach out to me a week later. Despite my skepticism that their firmware update suggestion could even work I dutifully followed their advice and success! Totally restored my Ionic but not sure how. We get addicted to using these watches and when they have problems we want them back to normal yesterday- patience might pay off. Now as to whether these cataclysmic issues should even happen in the first place...that's another matter. Good luck.

@AlvaroFitbit wrote:Hello everyone, thank you for your responses.
As mentioned before if you have tried the suggestions listed and the issue persist then reach out to our Support team for further assistance as they are the ones who can review the warranty status and provide options based on that.
What difference should the warranty status make? If your recommended firmware upgrade toasted devices that were working fine before, I would think Fitbit is the one responsible to fix or replace them at no extra cost. Geez.

See my LEDs are working, it's tracking my movements (no idea how accurately), it's just not talking to any other device of any description or OS to be able to sync it. If they do fix this update I have no way of applying it because nothing is talking to it - via Bluetooth or otherwise. The Bluetooth has seemingly been completely knocked out.
I can't even do a factory reset because Charge 2s don't have a factory reset according to another thread. I mean, what kind of device doesn't have a factory reset in the event of a failure like this. I may plug it into my laptop once more and see if I can force a connection but I'm not hopeful and suspect it will be resigned to a junk drawer somewhere... 😂

That's exactly how it was with the Ionic. No Bluetooth connectivity to anything. And then all of a sudden it worked. I had literally put it in a box and tossed it in a closet and had moved on to the new Ionic when tech support finally got around to my problem. I did not believe their solution was even possible, and it would be like doing CPR on a mummy. But again, it worked, hang in there.

Green sensor lights are always on all the time. This is how the device checks for a pulse.

I just got the notification that I can download the firmware update, however I will not be doing so until I can be assured that it will not brick my device. I cannot afford to buy a new device because someone at Fitbit can't code.

So I thought I had somehow fixed my problem - little to no HR readings - last Thursday by plugging in to my Mac and then logging into my account and resetting the Charge 2. Well it all worked fine until late Sunday, then I had only a short time of HR on Monday morning, then a couple spots during the day. But Tuesday and today, nothing. On the app the heart rate is grayed out with dotted lines all across. So essentially it went to fixed to broken even worse without me doing anything! The green lights on the back are on, but faint and are not flashing. I have had a fitbit for many years, with three different models and have never seen anything like this. My tracker was fine until the moment I updated the firmware in July.

That does it. A firmware update that just makes the Fitbit charge 2 useless.
No heartrate is displayed. I've tried the guides that say restart and turn on and off.
If hundreds of people have had problems, then you should look into letting us revert to previous versions of firmware.
I don't think this is the first time this happens either.

This is not working. I have tried on the PC and phone. Every time I click on Update Tracker, it searches but a message appears, make sure its display turn on when you press the button. If nothing happens, plug in the charger. I did this and still nothing. I have not synced since July 12.
