Fitbit Update: 8/14
Hey all!
Today we have completely released (out to 100%) this new Charge 2 firmware (22.58.0) to all users. This means everyone should now see it available for download in the Fitbit app. Please update to this new firmware. For instructions on how to complete the update, read How do I update my Fitbit device?
If you come across any difficulty updating, read Why can't I update my Fitbit device?
We've included bug fixes and improvements in this new firmware and always recommend having your tracker up to date, including the Fitbit app on the latest app version.
Fitbit Update: 7/24
Hi everyone,
We’re excited to announce a new firmware update for Charge 2 (version: 22.58.0).
We've begun releasing this new firmware to customers. This is a progressive rollout which means everyone will receive it at different stages until it has been completely released to all users. We roll out releases in phases as a cautionary measure so that we can monitor performance closely and make adjustments if needed.
*Firmware releases are not distributed based on region or location and can reach anyone no matter where you reside. We do not recommend performing a factory reset to force the update to your device as your data will be lost and you may not get the update. Please be patient and wait until you see the update banner inside of the Fitbit app to begin the firmware download.
WHAT’S NEW AND FIXED
This release includes other bug fixes and improvements.
HOW DO I UPDATE?
Step by step instructions for updating your Charge 2 can be found here.
If you run into any trouble updating your Charge 2, I recommend reviewing these troubleshooting tips.
Looking forward to hearing everyone's feedback on the latest release. If you have any questions, feel free to let me know!

My firmware is still 22.55.02. It wasn't a firmware update that caused the problem. It was the application update that coincided with loss of communication. I unpaired and tried to re-pair. I reset the Charge 2 and tried again. I uninstalled and reinstalled the application and tried again. I reset the Charge 2 several additional times without success.

This happened to me as well, with the shortened battery life. In my case it was because the heartrate monitor LEDs now stay on at a very intense level, even to the point where they get hot. My battery lasts a couple hours in this state. Turning off heart rate monitoring does not make the LEDs turn off.

Same thing here. I just called them and they are sending me a free replacement even though I'm way out of warranty. I suggest making the call.

I have an IPhone. I have tried every fix to receive phone and text messages and it’s still not working. I am on software version 12.3.1. The problem is it always worked but just recently stopped.

Right i have a Charge 2 and a Samsung Galaxy A70. I can't even pair my Charge 2 via bluetooth on my phone. That's the first thing.
second thing. I got the notification in the App of an Update. I have been trying for hours to get my Charge 2 to update the firmware 😞 😞 Now what is the problem here???
This is a joke and i'm not the only one having these problems from what i have read.
So how can i do this update???
Hardly cheap devices and yet we consumers can't update our products!!!!!!!!!!!

I am absolutely furious. After spending about a week, back and forward with Support all they can offer me is 25% off a new device. My problems only started after I tried to install this update. My device was working fine until then so as far as I am concerned Fitbit have broken it and then they expect me to spend more money with them - unbelievable. I will never, ever buy another Fitbit device after being a customer for several years and buying them for my children and recommending to family and friends. For the last week I have been using a much cheaper device and it works perfectly so from now on I will look elsewhere. Thanks for the memories!!!!!:(

Thanks for the warning. It will be interesting to see how they respond to your emails.
I am going to email again later as I have seen posts from others who have been sent new devices despite being out of warranty, so it seems the service is very inconsistent. All feedback should be accepted by any reputable organisation. People don't just get upset for the sake of it.

After the firmware update, my Charge 2 completely drains the battery within 10 minutes.

Hi
This is all nice, but looking through this forum, I see nobody is replying to the questions being asked.
Why?

I agree! I've had this issue for over a month, and a quick Google search shows that thousands of customers are also not receiving the content of text messages on their Fitbit screen, just the sender.
No one from Fitbit is addressing the problem, or even acknowledging that it's happening. Bad move when they have numerous competitors out there who'd be happy to have us as customers.

I had an on original fitbit that was the best little step tracker. Attached to my pant pocket, nice and discreet, affordable.
I followed instructions to update it and guess what. The battery life went down to hours, finally wouldn’t work at all. I discovered this community site and again, guess what. Others had had the same problem. I contacted fitbit support many times and guess what. They repeatedly said it had nothing to do with the update but would graciously give me a 25% discount on a new model. And surprisingly, my lovely little discreet model was discontinued. Quite a coincidence!
I did buy a new Charge 2 and love it but will NOT be doing any updates. Especially since I see all your posts!
Fitbit, this is NOT the way to maintain customer loyalty!!!

My Charge 2 synchs data with my iPhone FitBit ap after upgrading firmware to 22.58.0 . But when I go to Change Notifications, I get error message “Bluetooth Pairing Required”. I then select <Set up>, but after some time get “Bluetooth Pairing Failed” and selecting <Try Again> does not help.
This 22.58.0 version has major issues! Please fix ASAP, or return to previous version.

I had the same thing happen with my Flex. I loved that little fitbit!!
i won’t be doing this current update for that very reason. I have no idea why fitbit thinks this will create more sales. We’ve been there, done that.

Fitbit's site says: "This release includes bug fixes and improvements", which does not say anything. What "improvements"? The one I'm looking for would allow my Android's Nike Run Club app to access the heart rate data from my Charge 2. Will that ever happen? I see that it did not happen his time. Can we find out what improvements were made? Please accept my apology if this sounds cynical - I do not mean it that way. I really do want to know what changes were made. Thank you.

Agreed, I would love to know what improvements were made with this update. Mine updated this morning with no adverse effects noticed so far. I would love to have my FitBit sync with my Apple Health data, but that doesn't seem likely any time soon.

Hi Aless,
i would like to thank you and Fitbit team for the continued support of this product.
In the other hand i would like to request a very important update for my Fitbit charger 2 and every Fitbit product that has been used in any Arabic country.
I have been using charger 2 for 2 years now and since i use alerts for calls and sms any time I received one I would see just box’s for any Arabic letters or words and only latin letters and numbers appear.
kindly raise this future request for Arabic language user.
thank you.
