Fitbit Update: 8/14
Hey all!
Today we have completely released (out to 100%) this new Charge 2 firmware (22.58.0) to all users. This means everyone should now see it available for download in the Fitbit app. Please update to this new firmware. For instructions on how to complete the update, read How do I update my Fitbit device?
If you come across any difficulty updating, read Why can't I update my Fitbit device?
We've included bug fixes and improvements in this new firmware and always recommend having your tracker up to date, including the Fitbit app on the latest app version.
Fitbit Update: 7/24
Hi everyone,
We’re excited to announce a new firmware update for Charge 2 (version: 22.58.0).
We've begun releasing this new firmware to customers. This is a progressive rollout which means everyone will receive it at different stages until it has been completely released to all users. We roll out releases in phases as a cautionary measure so that we can monitor performance closely and make adjustments if needed.
*Firmware releases are not distributed based on region or location and can reach anyone no matter where you reside. We do not recommend performing a factory reset to force the update to your device as your data will be lost and you may not get the update. Please be patient and wait until you see the update banner inside of the Fitbit app to begin the firmware download.
WHAT’S NEW AND FIXED
This release includes other bug fixes and improvements.
HOW DO I UPDATE?
Step by step instructions for updating your Charge 2 can be found here.
If you run into any trouble updating your Charge 2, I recommend reviewing these troubleshooting tips.
Looking forward to hearing everyone's feedback on the latest release. If you have any questions, feel free to let me know!

Ever since the Firmware Update my Charge 2 hasn't been tracking my heart rate at all. Any suggestions on how to trouble shoot that?
Thanks.

That was the first thing that stopped working on mine. Then over the course of two weeks the whole thing locked up. I’m now getting used to my new Garmin Vivosmart HR.

I can't stop laughing. I updated yesterday and this morning my alarm went off and I thought "huh... why didn't my fitbit alarm go off"... because my fitbit won't turn on.
My phone says it's connected and everything is fine, but my fitbit screen doesn't turn or do anything. I'm going to try to unpair, re-pair... if that doesn't work, I'll uninstall the app then reinstall. If that doesn't work, I'll look into getting an Apple watch or a Garmin.
I can't get over how many problems I've had with this fitbit. Their solution was to send it to them to have a look and I refused because I know it was their software. A patch came out and everything was fine. Now? here we go again. Unbelievable.

I thought I would share my latest update. Fitbit graciously agreed to send me a new pebble (they actually told me they didn't think I needed the band and charger but would send that if I wanted them - that was after I complained about that). When the new one came, it charged right up and updated and all seemed great. In fact, on my old one, I received Sleep data only one random day during all the time I had it and with the new one, first 2 days, I got it. I thought maybe this would be great. Should have known better.
Have not received a single text notification on the new device. For phone notifications, I received a notification with a number that had called earlier in the day. That happened twice. After that, no phone notifications at all. Also, no more sleep data. Just hours slept and times restless, but no sleep score, etc. No clue why that changed. In the past I had asked about that issue but was given some story about how to wear it properly, etc. But now I know that it is simply the device and firmwear.
So there we have it. Even the "new" ones they send out don't work right. At least it counts my steps, etc. I'll use this one until it wears out and then off to Garmin I will go.

The Garmin devices work pretty simply and well. My Ionic stopped pushing Gmail notifications yesterday- not sure why but other are similarly plagued. Wearing my Garmin Vivoactive 3 today and getting all of my notifications without a hitch. My Charge 2 continues to work just fine- though I only use it for sleep tracking AND I have not downloaded this firmware update and still running 22.22.55.2. I really don't get why Fitbit keeps pushing me to update my Charge 2 firmware given the known problems it's causing at this point. Best of luck to everyone.

My Charge 2 battery drains much faster after the update. Was that expected behavior?

Scream, suspect that you are being sarcastic. I truly doubt that Fitbit Charge 2 owners were clamoring for reduced battery life and Fitbit decided to offer that as a feature. If you're not being sarcastic then take a few moments to read through the 40 pages of this thread and you will see that degraded battery life is just one of a host of problems that owners have experienced since this firmware update.

Tom, I don't understand your attack. My Charge 2 battery life has halved since the update - since it is a new behavior, I was wondering if this was an expected result.

Apologies Scream, no attack intended. As I said I thought you were being sarcastic, my mistake. No I do not believe that Fitbit intended to halve your battery life, but as I mentioned if you read through this long thread you'll see many, many others have been affected the same way. There are also other problems with folks are experiencing messed up displays, missing notifications, loss of heart rate tracking, and in some cases having their device completely bricked and more. All of this has been going on since the latest firmware update for the Charge 2 that came out well over a month ago. So far there has been no fix forthcoming from Fitbit. Owners with devices that are out of warranty are being offered 25% off the purchase of a new Fitbit device. That sums up pretty much what's been going on. Good luck with your Charge 2.

Wow, Cathie that's surprising. The 25% discount seemed to be very common amongst the firmware afflicted here. I know if you read through all this some people were able to contact the CEO or some senior customer service rep and for those lucky few they were sent a new or reconditioned Charge 2. There doesn't seem to be any consistent response in handling these complaints. From what's been posted here persistence seems to be the key and a lot of luck.

Don't fall for the 25% off another fitbit crap. I had the first generation charge and it was replaced 3 times for several issues, including the band falling apart. Finally I gave up on it.
I have a Charge 2 now only because it was a gift from my cousin. It's not under warranty anymore and when I ran into problems several months ago, i was told to send it in and i would get a refurbished one back since they would be using mine to diagnose things. I said hell no. They offered me 25% off a new watch. Why would I spend my hard earned money on YOUR FIRMWARE PROBLEM.
I left it and miraculously, a few weeks later, everything was going fine. Second to last update fine. This last update? My fitbit wont even turn on but it says that I'm synched.
I'm sure if I contact support they'll say send it to us and we'll give you 25% off! No thanks. I'll go for a Garmin or another watch.

After i've updated my fitbit Charge 2 to 22.58, by battery life has drained exponentially and now my Fitbit won't sync to my phone (Samsung S9). Any updates on how to get this bug fixed?!
