Fitbit Update: 8/14
Hey all!
Today we have completely released (out to 100%) this new Charge 2 firmware (22.58.0) to all users. This means everyone should now see it available for download in the Fitbit app. Please update to this new firmware. For instructions on how to complete the update, read How do I update my Fitbit device?
If you come across any difficulty updating, read Why can't I update my Fitbit device?
We've included bug fixes and improvements in this new firmware and always recommend having your tracker up to date, including the Fitbit app on the latest app version.
Fitbit Update: 7/24
Hi everyone,
We’re excited to announce a new firmware update for Charge 2 (version: 22.58.0).
We've begun releasing this new firmware to customers. This is a progressive rollout which means everyone will receive it at different stages until it has been completely released to all users. We roll out releases in phases as a cautionary measure so that we can monitor performance closely and make adjustments if needed.
*Firmware releases are not distributed based on region or location and can reach anyone no matter where you reside. We do not recommend performing a factory reset to force the update to your device as your data will be lost and you may not get the update. Please be patient and wait until you see the update banner inside of the Fitbit app to begin the firmware download.
WHAT’S NEW AND FIXED
This release includes other bug fixes and improvements.
HOW DO I UPDATE?
Step by step instructions for updating your Charge 2 can be found here.
If you run into any trouble updating your Charge 2, I recommend reviewing these troubleshooting tips.
Looking forward to hearing everyone's feedback on the latest release. If you have any questions, feel free to let me know!

Just saw a new release on my Google Play Store. Anyone installed it yet? If yes, did it fix any sync (no text message) issue?

Just a quick question about this firmware update. Yesterday my Pixel 2 phone stopped recognizing my Charge 2. I have been through the Community help threads and have applied all the suggestions offered, to no avail. So my question is, could this firmware update fix the connectivity issue? I really hope so.

How do we install this firmware? I honestly think my fitbit is dying. Had 13 months and green lights on back are not on, the app keeps telling me tracker not found. I confirmed tracker connected to my bluetooth.

Everything worked fine on my Beloved Charge 2 until this last update. Now it’s broken. No heart rate, no green lights. I’ve tried all the suggestions I’ve seen in these forums.
Heart rate monitor stopped after last update yesterday (Aug 7, 2019)
Tried reset by holding the button til the logo appears while on charger.
Tried turning auto heart rate off then syncing then turning it back to auto.
No heart rate in monitor or app and no green lights.
Help please and thanks?

FYI - Last night I plugged in my tracker to my Mac desktop, then logged into my account on fitbit.com. I then synced it on the website and now the HR seems to be working (so far, crossing fingers). I had only previously used my iPhone to sync.
So at least for me I figured out the fix. And I did not accept the 25% off a new tracker and the answer I was given by support. Hope this helps at least one person here. 🙂

The latest update seems to have greatly reduced the battery life of my Charge 2. I was having no issues prior to the update. Pretty disappointed that nobody from Fitbit has responded to anyone's concerns.

Aless,
This was your response about low battery life issues earlier. I did what you suggested and it has lasted less than an hour both times. What in the world! How are you all going to fix this issue? My Fitbit is 100% useless at this time.
"I'm glad to hear you both successfully updated to this new firmware for Charge 2! However, it does sound like you're now experiencing some issues with the battery. My best suggestions would be to make sure you fully charge the device to a full battery. After that, monitor the battery life to see how long it lasts. In addition, please make sure you have the newest version of the Fitbit app. If you're still experiencing short battery life, please let me know so I can help with next steps."

This is interesting; I have a Charge 2 that I only really use for sleep tracking (rely on an Ionic for other stuff). The other day I noticed that the Charge 2 was having trouble synching with the app on my Pixel 3 and saw notification of a firmware update. However whenever I try to load the update I get an error message at the bottom of the app screen that says something about Bluetooth being busy or some such and refused to load. After reading the many comments on this forum am glad it hasn't loaded! Went through trouble last month with my 19 month old Ionic, it died after an app update and none of the suggested remedies worked. Figured it was toast and got another one on Prime Day from Amazon at a good price. Then about a week later Fitbit tech support guys got back to me and suggested I re-try a firmware update and it resurrected my Ionic! Moral of the story is hang tight- this isn't the first time a software/firmware update has sabotaged these devices but there is hope (maybe).

I too have experienced significant loss of battery life, no longer tracking heat rate. When I reached out to fitbit they had no solutions and only offered 25% off because I am no longer in warranty - by 4 months. This is the second device that I have used and both have went to **ahem** after the warranty is up. I agree with others that the latest software update has stopped all proper functioning of the device and they are not trying to fix it or help the customers with devices that are no longer working. All they want is your money every 2 years. 25% off a new device is a slap in the face when Fitbit has screwed up and is not USER error. I will be telling everyone I know to avoid fitbit and never to buy their products, customer service does not makes things right, and their solutions is to stop using your device as built and turn off all non-essential functions.
