I have a Charge 2 that with the new update is failing after about 1/10 progress.
I have read a number of posts in this forum, walking thorugh the steps with my fitbit, including:
a) clearing android app cache and data
b) updating fitbit app on phone;
c) shutting own phone
c) resetting my fitbit multiple times (2 - 3)
d) starting phone and fitbit app
e) installing fitbit app on a different phone and retrying install
This process results in same issue ->
a) update bar goes about 1/10 of the way on charge 2;
b) charge 2 screen gets an exclamation point
c) bar goes back to the beginning and it restarts
d) This process continues for 30 mins and finally I get a failure screen with retry button.
How do I get details on the actual error message or problem?

I got the same issue but somehow got both Charges updated. Tried about 10x to reset watch and clean Android app + phone's bluetooth cash from phone but no luck. After few minutes of progressive bar the watch got exclamation mark on the bar and got stuck forever. Finally I reset about 5 times watch, logout from Android app, deleted watch from Anroid app, turned off Android bluetooth and took laptop with Windows 10. Installed Fitbit from Microsoft Store, logged in and added Charge2 to Fitbit software. Tried succesfully sync and then started update process. After 2-3 minutes got stuck again, progress bar did not move anymore but no exclamation mark on watch screen. I cancelled update, restarted watch several times, removed watch from Windows bluetooth devicelist, restarted Fitbit software and connected Charge 2 again to Fitbit. Then initiated update and surprisingly it worked, took about 5 minutes until it was done. All that monkeyozzfest took 3-4 hours and 5-6 beers. It looks like every **ahem** update we are getting to those phones and gadgets just makeing things worse. 700€ phone got update and now it's not connecting to car bluetooth, so you need a new car for updated phone, then some little watch getting update, you need a new phone to be compatible with it and another new car to get phone connected to handsfree, then you find nothing connects to TV-set anymore and so on and on...
