Charge 2 Won't Hold Charge

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

So I have charged my Fitbit about 4 times in the past few days. I charge it, take it off charge and before the end of the day, it's dead. Rinse and repeat, I even thought it was putting it in incorrectly.

Fast forward today, took it off charge about 4/5 am and now its dying. Is anyone else experiencing this or is it just time for me to switch?? I have honestly been having issues with my tracker for monthsaa

Hello @Khrazie, it's nice to see you again participating here in the Community Forums, welcome back.

I appreciate the information and details that were shared in your post, sorry for the battery inconvenience experienced with your device. Let me share with you that the battery of our Charge 2 device was designed to last 5 days but this also depends on how frequently you use it’s features. That said, I recommend you charging your Fitbit device with a USB port from a computer or a UL-certified outlet into the wall and then turn off all the features that you don’t use that much. After doing so, please this help article for more tips and recommendations.

Such article includes as restart process that will refresh device device's performance.

Keep me posted, I’ll be right here if you need anything else.

Thanks for replying!

I took it off charge yesterday and it's already dead. I took it off to take
a shower and now... nothing! Something is definitely wrong with it. I feel
like I'm being forced to upgrade or switch because my tracker is now
unreliable. Very unfortunate 😞

Funny thing, I came here looking for a solution to the same problem! Starting yesterday my Charge2 no longer holds a charge either. In my case, the unit charges to 100% via a usb cable plugged into an electrical wall socket, and is dead within minutes. Plugging it back into its charger shows the battery is back to 0%. It is on firmware 22.58.00

I have the same firmware. I will probably try charging it from my laptop
and see if that does anything.... highly doubt it though.

I also tried a different charging cable and location. It only takes 15 minutes to charge from 0% to 100%, and then it loses power after 10 minutes. Probably safe to assume that the battery is dead.

I agree. Went to bed with it at 95%, dead by the time I woke up.

Mine started doing this just recently. It won't even last the day. It's been plugged into my computer right now for nearly two hours and is only at 88% charge. I've been looking at upgrading because this is really frustrating, but I'm not impressed with the life of my four Fitbits so far. I love what they do, but I've had this one maybe two years and it's already dying?! Yet, Fitbit continues to beat the competitors in accuracy.

I agree. I do think mine lasted for a while (kinda foggy since I've had a
Fitbit for years). The last time it went crazy, I researched switching and
did not like the reviews.

I'm trying the leave-in-freezer-overnight trick, but I'm skeptical that will help. I didn't realize that the fast-switch screen error was so commonplace with Charge 2 units. I figured mine was just going crazy, but other posts on this community forum indicates that it is a common problem.

I tried to charge it again today. It went up to 100% and stayed there for a few minutes, then down to 80%, and then from there it wouldn't power up anymore.

Let me know if that works because I have basically given up on mine

Alas, the freezer trick didn't work. After a full charge, now its battery dies even faster! My fitbit has had a good run though (2.5 years); batteries don't last forever. It's too bad that it doesn't stay charged at all else it could be donated to www.recyclehealth.com

Thanks for letting me know, mine is just sitting on the book where its been
since it stopped!

Same thing here.  Started dying incredibly quickly.  Now won't charge at all (with USB connected to PC).  Mine started acting up the second week into our six week walking trip in Scotland.  Unfortunate doesn't cover it.  It's planned obsolescence plain and simple.  I will not buy another fitbit.

My Charge 2 died last week, after about 2.5 years, which, isn't too bad. I was looking at the Charge 3, but, it seems to have lots of problems. I hope Fitbit comes out with a more reliable replacement soon.

Appreciate the feedback but everyone's Fitbit Charge 2 has been having trouble since the firmware 22.22.58 update.  Mine no longer shows BPM and now the battery is dying half way through the day.  It takes a full charge via USB port but drains drastically after unplugging it.  There is no way everyone's Fitbit Charge 2 went bad in the last two months at the same time.  I've uninstalled the app on my S10e and reinstalled it.  I checked the permissions and notifications (I only get battery warning and updates - same as before when it held a 5 day charge).  I read a number of posts saying Fitbit is aware of the issue and is working one it but how many owners have gone out a bought a new one not knowing it's a firmware issue?  Can we move our Fitbits back to the prior version?

This happened to me a week ago. I tried four times to charge the Charge 2. It died within minutes afterward. I am not aware of any trigger event that caused this either. I didn't drop the Charge 2 in water or the sink. I have had the device for 2.4 years and this is the first time this is happening.

To Ricardo fitbit - You said you were there to help but no replies.  I am experiencing same issue - is battery at end of life or not?  What is expected lifetime of a charge 2 battery?

Having the same issue. Out of no where won’t hold a charge. Charge it all night and it’s flashing low battery within an hour and dead before lunch. Has anyone had any luck in resolving this? It does not inspire me to purchase another Fitbit product.

As noted, the batteries will decay over time until eventually they can no longer hold a charge. That's just the nature of rechargeable batteries. My solution was to upgrade to a Charge 3, and I've been happy with it for the past 8 months. I only have to recharge the battery in the Charge 3 once a week.
